Australian Designers - Fashion and Jewellery Designers
Why Australian Designers? The only reason I started to write this lens is because very is very little information about the Australian Designers on Squidoo. I felt they should be represented here because we have some amasing designers in all areas. So, I decided to concentrate on fashion and jewelry designers to start with. All you have to do is look at the picture on the left and you will see the creativity, imagination and style of this Australian designer. The pendant, "Map of Australia outback" is a Sterling Silver & Copper pendant and is handmade by Denise from Denise and Michael and Associates in Australia.
With its unique Australian cultural icons, known as Australiana, the contemporary Australian designers are becoming more and more sophisticated showing ingenuity, originality and creativity. Their inspiration comes from a wide array of sources like Australia's flora and fauna, Indigenous influences, its history and much more.

'Rosemary Armstrong's Tea Rose label began at her country home in the Yarramalong Valley in 1980 where she started wholesaling to shops around Australia. She has been designing her gloriously feminine clothing for nearly 30 years. She is passionate about design and beautiful fabrics. She uses indulgent fabrics created by small European mills with whom she works closely.'

'A garment can transcend, giving it a soul.'
'I translate fabrics into soft and romantic silhouettes, using natural fabrics like silks and cottons, which are kind to the skin.'
'Distressing fabrics and alchemically treating them, gives the feeling of already 'being loved', thus evoking emotion. Even one-off fabrics found in flea markets can be given new life.' says Akira

Alannah Hill 'Tasmania is a quaint and harsh island outpost out of time with the rest of the world. This is where Alannah Hill grew up, in a rather wuthering heights meets creaming soda kind of way. She was one of a catholic family of five children brought up in an old fashioned milk bar in the wild coastal town of Penguin, with lots of mixed lollies but not a sequin in sight. "I landed in Melbourne from Tasmania at 17, with six suit cases and $50, $30 of which went on the taxi to the city. 'I didn't know one single person and not one single person knew me. I was quite hyperactive and did anything anybody asked of me. I was fearless, brave, but frightened."

Accolade for Carla Zampatti "She has opened boutiques, launched her own fragrance line and even helped design cars that women would want. And today, Carla Zampatti was honoured by her peers as the winner of the 2008 Australian Fashion Laureate.
The award recognises outstanding creative or intellectual achievement in the Australian fashion industry.
Zampatti, who moved to Australia from Italy as a child, launched her collection in 1965 and opened her first retail store in 1972, a retail chain which has grown to 30 stores today."

Cat Hammill "It's the quirky charm and thoughtful detail of designer Cat Hammill's self-titled jewellery label that has gained the attention of the Australian fashion industry. Born from a love of creating something individual, Cat Hammill was founded on a whim with a hobby for crafting her own one-off quirky bracelets and necklaces. Garnered with a passionate vision for creating unique pieces filled with worldly charm, the charming tale of Cat Hammill jewellery began in June 2008."
