Overcoming Writers Block
Does writers block stop you from being a thriving article author? Well to be honest every article writer has encountered writers block. For reasons ranging from what do I write about, to the TV is just too loud. Anything that distracts you and causes you to give up is writers block.
In this brief summary I am going to give you the advice I use myself. Had I not just endured this phenomenon personally I would have probably chosen a different subject!
First off, don't be afraid of that blank screen, it's simply waiting for you to become inspired. If you're already at this stage your at the wrong starting point anyway. Be prepared to write (sorry for the cliché but there it is), spend time researching your chosen subject matter before you begin writing. Notes will help get you off to a good start.
Make yourself an outline, as complete an outline as you can think of. Concern yourself with the headline later. The title may possibly write itself. With a complete outline writing is simple
Don't procrastinate; this is my own personal demon. Don't tell yourself, "I'll come up with an idea tomorrow and put off my writing for another time". That soap opera will wait and Oprah won't miss you. (Sorry Oprah)
The one piece of software I personally use for my outline is writers block. Not because it's a great inspirational tool, that's what our brain is for. It organizes my notes into manageable blocks I can organize later. You can do the same thing with a pad and pencil if you desire, my work space is far too cluttered for me to find all my scribbling.
Don't worry about perfection, you can always edit later. Once again your outline will provide all the inspiration you will need. Try not making great expectations from your first draft; UNDERSTAND I used the word draft. It's alright to write complete garbage, you'll be able to refine it later. I find editing is much easier that writing in any event.

This was also my first Clive Cussler book. I have read all ofhis previous and subsequent books but this one still stands out as thebest.(It was also the first time in my life that I experienced the dread of all readers...starting a book and realizing at 4:30 in the morning that you have to go to work the next day, but you have only 3 chapters left to go!!)
