Eating Emergency Food Storage On A Daily Basis?
Food storage is essential in emergency situations. Having a supply of food comes in handy in many different cases--from disasters to strenuous financial times. Food storage is also important to use in your meals on a daily basis. This sounds contradictory but it is an important and economical way to use food storage. Many people think that emergency home food storage should be saved and only used during emergency situations. However, this is not the case. Read on to find out why you should rotate your food storage into your daily meal planning and how some cool products can help you do so.
Economical Food Storage Method
Eating your food storage on a first in first out basis will help you save money and will minimize the chance that your food will go bad before you get to eat it. It is a common practice to place new food at the front of cabinets and push what's already there to the back to make room. Doing this is not economical because it means that your older food may be left in back and forgotten about until it is no longer edible. Rotating food is so efficient and economical that it is also used often in commercial settings, as seen in the video above.
One of the most common items people buy is canned food--whether it be from the local grocery store or whether it be from a food storage company. It is best to place newer items in the back and older items in the front. Doing this manually can be a little tricky with cans, but luckily there are devices you can buy that will do it for you.

Self-Rotating Food Storage Products
AKA Rotating Shelves, Racks, Dispensers, Rotaters & So On
There are many food storage racks, shelves, and other products that can help you get your kitchen cabinets, pantry, or food storage rooms organized. They go by many names but they are the same cool products--and henceforth I will refer to them as racks. They also great because they make it easy and convenient to rotate your canned food items. These racks rotate the food for you and many have trays that adjust to fit the size of the cans. When you take a can from an "automated" food storage rack, the next newest can will roll forward.
Various Sizes & Capacities
There are small and large versions. Smaller versions can fit right in the kitchen cabinet or on the kitchen counter. Larger racks can be placed in pantries or storage rooms. Depending on the size, the rack may hold anywhere from 50 cans to 400 cans or even more. Larger racks can also be upgraded with additional accessories like side shelves which hold non-canned items.
You can buy food storage racks--which are super easy to assemble. Or you can even make your own self-rotating racks. There are many tutorials with great ideas on how you can create DIY racks.
