Autobots - Transformers Heroes

Ranked #14,400 in Entertainment, #176,115 overall

A Cybertron lens.

The Autobots are the heroes in one of the world's most successful cartoon and toy lines, The Transformers. In the animated series the Autobots were created by the five-face Quintessons as consumer products, however the machines rebelled from their assigned roles as indentured servants.

The Autobots defeated the Quintessons only to be challenged by the military hardware the Quintessons also produced, the violent Decepticons.

Optimus Prime

Ultimate 'Bot

"Autobots, transform and roll out!"

The quintessential Transformer, in the cartoon's mythos Optimus Prime was originally named Orion Pax. He admired the Decepticons before becoming aware of their plans to rule with an iron fist. Just prior to the first Cybertronian Civil War, Orion was critically injured in a Decepticon attack. Transfered into a new body by Alpha Trion, he was renamed Optimus Prime. Soon afterwards, he became the trusted Autobot Leader.

Optimus Prime has existed and returned in different variations throughout the 20 plus years of The Transformers, and comes to life on the big screen this Summer in the new Transformers Movie.

Bumblebee Toys and Collectbles

Bumblebee's small size makes this Autobot an ideal spy. Although originally named after a bug and transforming into an Volkswagon Bug (Beetle), at one point he was rebuilt by the Quintessons and renamed "Goldbug". This fan-favorite 'Bot may have changed his name back, but he makes yet another transformation when he'll appear as a Camaro in the upcoming live-action Transformers movie.
