This is the wonderful question that you are probably thinking of. How much money do I need to get started? In this section, I will explain the different types of accounts available and exactly how much money you need to get started.

There are 2 types of accounts to get started. A mini account and a standard account.

Mini Accounts may have a minimum requirement of $250 to $500 to get started. This type of account is for people who are new to Forex and don't want to risk a lot of money in the beginning stages. A mini account will generally have a max of about $50,000.

Standard accounts may have a minimum requirement of $2,500. This type of account is for your average investor. A standard account will generally have no max limitations.
So to answer your question, how much do I need?

You can start with as little as $250. Bear in mind that your trades will be very small (micro lots) and it will take you a longer time to obtain profits. Only start off with what you can afford to lose. That is always your rule of thumb. Do not invest with your mortgage payment or rent check!

If you have $2,500, you can open up with a standard account. There is no right or wrong answer. It all depends on how much money you can afford to lose without interrupting your personal life.

Hi, my name is Neil and I am going to tell you a little about myself, how I discovered Forex and most importantly why I started trading in the Foreign Exchange Market.

I am 27 years old, single father with a 3 year old boy, just your average Joe living in sunny California. As you already know California is an expensive place to live. Like any normal person, I was skeptical. I've heard and read thousands of claims of ways to make money online, and I have yet to find one. I read through the web page to look for the "catch" and the more I read, the more I was intrigued. I've heard about the Forex market, but I knew nothing about it.

The next thing I did was google everything I could about Forex. I learned that $3 trillion dollars move daily in the foreign exchange market. Compared to the US stock exchange, which moves billions daily, Forex moves $2 trillion more daily.

Forex Auto Pilot System By: Marcus Leary

I have been using the Forex Auto Pilot System (FAPS) for about 3 weeks now and I am impressed. This software is known as an "expert advisor" (EA) and is fully automated. You put the file in the appropriate folder, then input all the settings and you're done. This EA trades based off a mathematical algorithm and basically does all the work for you. It does not use a stop loss and atomically closes all trades at the end of the month.

I demoed this software for 2 weeks before going live and I was happy with the result. In 14 days, I went from $2,000 to $2,500. I made the mistake early of manually closing a trade that was -$440, 2 days later the trade would have closed with a positive gain. During a trade which is in a draw down, you must not let your emotions get in the way and let the EA do it's thing.

A couple of days later, I was in a trade that was -$520, I let the software do it's magic and days later, the trade closed with a positive gain! At that point, I was done using the demo and I wanted to test this out with real money. So far, so good!

"A pip is a very small measure of change in a currency pair in the forex market. It can be measured in terms of the quote or in terms of the underlying currency. A pip is a standardized unit and is the smallest amount by which a currency quote can change, which is usually $0.0001 for U.S.-dollar related currency pairs, which is more commonly referred to as 1/100th of 1%, or one basis point. This standardized size helps to protect investors from huge losses. For example, if a pip was 10 basis points, a one-pip change would cause more extreme volatility in currency values."

In finance, a percentage in point (pip or point) is the smallest measure of Price move used in forex trading. For instance, if the currency pair EUR/USD is currently trading at 1.3000 and then the exchange rate changes to 1.3010, the pair did a 10 pips (smallest units) move. The pip is the smallest measure regardless of the fractional representation of the currency exchange rate. Thus, 1.3000 to 1.3010 is the same move in pips terms as 110.00 to 110.10.

In other words, a Pip = Profit! Your goal is to gain as many Pips as possible. Now if you see +100 pips, you'll know that it's a great thing!
