Automatic Doors

Automatic Doors Guru here with my latest thoughts on those unsightly automatic doors which look like they were built in the 50's. I know my mother-in-law always says use it out, make it up, do without or screw it up. It goes something like that, I'm not really sure, I never pay quite enough attention when I really should, but you get the gist. That seems to be the case with many store owners, hospitals and public buildings. The automatic doors are in such sad shape you almost don't even want to go through them for fear they may self destruct at the thought of having to open just one more time.
I have gone through doors which dropped parts out of their housings as they opened. Automatic doors like these pose a substantial safety risk. Some people believe what my M-I-L says and won't replace those doors for anything, but it is my opinion that a clean looking store, hospital or hotel is much more likely to lose less business if its emissary is nice and clean and newer (say from this century at least) looking than those automatic doors which look like WWII surplus or government surplus.
I am quite certain that if a study were done on establishments to see if the first impression rule which worked with me and my M-I-L were to be used concerning your automatic doors, you may find out that people like to frequent the nicer places and shy away from old run down stores, kind of like the M-I-L. On a more serious note, those old doors actually cost more to maintain and operate than newer ones today cost, but that is in a future article to come.
In conclusion, automatic doors are like mother-in-laws,... mothers-in-law,... mothers-in-laws,... oh, whatever. Automatic doors don't know if their coming or going.
