What is a Micro Site?

 

A microsite is an extension of your main online property. They are billboards along the Internet superhighway at a fraction of the cost. This is a microsite to educate you on microsites.

They make it easy for online automobile shoppers find your offers and to enter your online sales process or walk through your showroom door. Just as I have made it easy for you to gather information on microsites.

The Benefits of a Microsite 

  • Search Engine Optimization A disciplined approach to launching dealer microsites can increase the search engine viability of you main website. They should increase your position in the SERPS for your main money keywords. Dealer Name and Brand Market Area Combinations.
  • Targeted Traffic Because an automotive microsites can be built to be very keyword targeted to a specific model and brand or to a localized "money term" in addition to your money terms they can pull business from way outside of your traditional market area. Think INCREMENTAL BUSINESS
  • Search Engine Reputation Management Unfortunately you can't keep every customer happy and if the wrong one or two become disgruntled they can destroy your search engine reputation. Having multiple sites or pages optimized for a dealer name and city brand can keep negative information from creeping into the Search Engine Result Pages.
  • Brand Building Just as manufactures strive to build brand recognition you to can build your brand online to accentuate traditional advertising.

Microsite Vendors charge anywhere from a few hundred dollars per month for one micro site to around $1,000 for a platform for you to create "unlimited" microsites.

But what are you really getting for your money?

You are basically renting a website that is dependent on your next months payment to a micro site vendor. Once the contract is over you have nothing to show for your investment very much like print advertising. Money spent with no residual benefits.

ROI is important and it is usually how the expense is justified, but just building a microsite does nothing to promote it. You still have to worry about SEO and SEM to get that online property into the eyes of online shoppers.

Can your microsite vendor guarantee natural SEO benefits and transfer the property over to you for ownership long term? Unless they are willing to do that maybe you should explore other options!!
