Auto Dealers Need Internet Marketing

Search engine optimization and search engine marketing have been around for years, but until recently, only a small percentage of automotive dealers were doing it.  This is ironic, as the Internet is used as the primary source for information that consumers use to make their purchasing decisions.

The vehicle sales market is tremendously competitive.  Dealerships are loathe to not include search engine marketing and optimization as large parts of the advertising budgets.

The sad reality is that most of them do not.  Why? In most cases it's because the cost is often higher than the cost of the website itself.

Below is an article that explains it further.

Here are some articles posted on other sites about search engine optimization. Some are general, while some are specifically about the automotive market.
Another Automotive SEO Lens
Here is a more updated version of my SEO thoughts as they pertain to the automotive industry and car dealers in particular.
Is Google Your Only Target
Some estimate that Google controls over 50% of the searches online. In a market, such as the automotive market, where so much hangs on whether or not the website is found over the competition, is it worth it to try to optimize for all of the major search engines, or is getting listed by Google enough?

If you want to be seen by more than 50%, I think the answer is obvious.
Car Dealer SEO - Onsite vs. Offsite
There have been many discussions around "content is king" vs "links rule" in car dealer SEO. This article by Richard Valenta clears many of the distinctions and offers the opinion that both matter to some extent.
Car Dealer Social Media Basics: Twitter
While Twitter links are "nofollow", this article looks at how that doesn't necessarily mean its bad for car dealer social media or car dealer SEO.
Automotive Search Engine Optimization
The best way for a car dealer to increase business is to enhance their presence on the search engines. There are many companies out there who are offering search engine optimization services.

Some are in the automotive industry. Most of these really do not know what they are doing, but since they have clients, they might as well offer the service whether it is good or not.

Others are in the search engine optimization and marketing business, but don't really understand how the car business itself works. These are the ones that you should be careful with -- ask lots of questions and look at their automotive clients.

SEO 2.0: Optimizing Car Dealer Websites with Blogs, Social Media and Social Networks
Web 2.0 has been a big deal in many industries for a long time, but it seems to finally be hitting its stride in recent months within the automotive industry. Car dealers have started taking notice to search engine optimization, and whenever that is part of the equation, Web 2.0 is never far behind. With blogs, social networking, and social media, it's possible to enhance the optimization and ranking a car dealer's website very easily IF DONE RIGHT. Done wrong and it could be disastrous.
How Automotive Social Media Should Be
There's a right way and a wrong way to do automotive social media.
