DEALERS MAKE MONEY ON THE FRONT AND BACK END OF THE SALE

HERE IS WHAT TO WATCH FOR

It is important for you to understand how car dealers make money. There are two times during the negotiation of a sale where the dealer can make more money off of you. They are referred to as the front-end and the back-end.

Let me explain what happens at each of these places during the negotiation process.

The front-end profit is the amount the car dealer makes off of the car itself. Say for instance the dealer buys the car for $10,000 and puts another $1,000 into cleaning, repairs and reconditioning. The dealer then sells you the car for $14,000. The dealer made a front-end profit of $3,000.

The back-end profit is all the add-ons, such as financing, warranties, gap insurance, special coatings, etc. It is very important to realize that the DEALER MAKES MONEY ON THESE THINGS!

BE AWARE, The dealer might make you a "great" front end deal because he or she is planning on making a profit off of selling you back-end items.

So just at the time you are feeling like you have a good deal going, if you aren't watching the dealer will run up the back-end stuff and you just got taken without even knowing what hit you!

It is not uncommon for warranties, special insurance packages and special vehicle add-ons to be priced up $1000 over dealer cost. Nice profit...for them.

CAR DEALER SCAMS - TRICKS, PRESSURE TECHNIQUES AND PURCHASING TRICKS

SAVE THOUSANDS

Car buying scams can happen to anyone and if you go in to a dealership without being aware of common tricks and pressure techniques used by car sales agents you could end up paying hundreds or even thousands more than someone who know what to look out for.

This section gives you common car buying scams that come directly from a past car salesman.

1. Car salesman are master negotiators and are trained on sales tricks and strategies. Dealerships often offer formal or informal courses in persuasion to their sales staff. If you go in unprepared you will likely be talked into a purchase you are less than happy with.

2. "The deal won't be here tomorrow!" This is perhaps the most common persuasion tactic used by car salesman. What is really behind this type of comment is the fact that the salesman is afraid to let you leave the dealership. He knows that if you have time to go home and sleep on your decision that you are not likely to come back. But the truth is the salesman will be just as happy to sell you a car tomorrow as he is today. Go home and sleep on it and if it is not right you will know it.

3. The Back End is where the dealer loads up profits. A sales agent might make you a great deal on a car in hopes of selling you over-priced extras. Don't fall for this common scam, refuse all extras on a used car and as for a new car do some research before getting to the dealership and only purchase extras you want.

4. Pressuring you to close the deal NOW. Salesman want you to rush to purchase because the quicker you buy the sooner they can move on to the next customer. If you feel pressured into deciding walk away, remember you are the one (the only one) in the negotiation with the buying power.

5. Be ready for the manager. It is very likely you will be visited by the manager during your negotiation or your salesman will excuse himself to talk with a manager behind the scenes. This is not always a bad thing but know that it is likely to happen and follow your gut instinct, remember you can always walk out of an uncomfortable situation.

6. If you are uncomfortable or not very knowledgable about cars bring a friend who is. If you don't know what to look for bring a knowledgeable friend with you to the dealership, it could save you hundreds or even thousands on your purchase.

7. The Salesman's first offer will be high. The salesman will start negotiations high so it is up to you to start your negotiations low, this way you can meet in the middle at an acceptable price.

8. Some sales are unadvertised. Ask for any unadvertised sales, these might not be revealed to the public because they don't favor the salesman but by asking you might uncover a gem.

You can avoid car buying scams but you must understand how the game is played.

The car dealerships have the selling game down to an exact science.

Thank you for the information. My car needs to be fixed right now but I really have searched the net first before I call a repair shop, just to make sure. Because numerous people take out unsecured bank loans as it is to take care of their automobile, so make sure you are not being scammed and paying more cash than you
need to when going to an auto technician. One common con is when a technician cleans a part of a car and says it was swapped out. It's easy to end up paying for a part that was never put on your car. If you get scammed into something cheap, like adding oil that was not added, it's not right for the auto technician to lie. The easiest method to avoid being cheated is to get multiple estimates from multiple mechanics and not paying for the job unless it had been done right.

Very, very interesting. I could have used it a couple of months ago when I bought my car. I can assure you I was taken because I didn't know all of these things.
Maybe other people will read it before going shopping for a car.
