Autumn is a Lovely Season for Weddings

The days are getting cooler and the nights shorter, so you'll want an autumn wedding dress that is lightweight enough for a warm fall day, yet warm enough for a cooler evening. Fall is a time of vibrant colors... depending on where live that is. Obviously, those in the southern states won't have a backdrop of autumn colors like you would find in the northern states and in Canada. For those that are lucky enough to live in an area where the leaves turn, you may want to consider having your autumn wedding ceremony outdoors amongst the trees. Some outdoor locations that would suit this autumn wedding idea would be: a rustic farm, a country inn, an apple orchard, a vineyard, or a nearby park.

Whether you live in a area with firey fall colors or not, you can still create a spectacular autumn wedding indoors as well. With colored accents and appropriate decorations, you can easily bring the outdoors inside.

Create leaf candle wraps for a simple table centerpiece. Buy pillar candles in suitable autumn colors. Next, you'll need to find a vase, large glass or other such glass container that is large and tall enough to hold the candle (but not too large circumference wise). Using a 3" wide ribbon, cut it so it wraps around the glass container, overlapping a bit. Secure with a glue gun. Glue 2 or 3 fabric leaves to the front of the ribbon. Wrap contrasting colored, thin ribbon or raffia around the wider ribbon and tie in the front over the leaves (to hide where they are glued). Set on the tables.

Fill woven baskets with fall leaves. Tie a pretty rust or orange-red ribbon to the handle for an inexpensive centerpiece.

Buy leaf shaped hole punches and punch out your own leaf confetti from autumn colored papers. Sprinkle the confetti on the tables.

If you're crafty, make your own foliage arrangements using rustic planters, copper toned buckets or woven baskets as your container.

Believe it or not, an autumn wedding theme can be either ultra-formal or very informal. It all depends on the tone of the wedding and reception. In light of the fact that autumn is such a varied season, your only limit is your imagination. You can use any of the elements that you enjoy, and your wedding and reception will reflect those things you enjoy about the season.

There are many ways in which you can incorporate the autumn theme into your wedding. For the most part, these ideas are very simple to execute. One of the easiest ways to incorporate the autumn wedding theme into your ceremony is by adding small touches that reflect autumn. One idea is to use a pew bow comprised of printed ribbon with fall themes instead of the traditional white. This can range from prints of leaves to prints of pumpkins. For a more formal event, wide burgundy or hunter ribbon edged in gold can be used. Fall colors can be used in floral arrangements and a variety of fall flowers can be used as well. Finally, the wedding attendants can wear colors that reflect those of the season.

There are so many different ways to use pumpkins and squash in decorating for a autumn wedding. It can be as simple as squash and pumpkins in various sizes scattered amongst fall leaves...or can be as complicated as painting pumpkins or squash with a gold wash, then carving hearts and flowers into the flesh.
