A Connection to the Past

As a young child my mother gave me a great gift, an appreciation of the past and history, specifically in the American Colonial and Civil War periods. Seeing her passion for history ignited my personal love for for the past. As a fan of the Indiana Jones and National Treasure movies, I think it is wonderful to see an individual follow their passion and love. When historians discover links to the past, their passion is rewarded.     The AU/GT game in 1956 was the first CFB game I attended. My Dad and I went with my Dad's uncle who was a big GT fan. I don't remember much about the game except for the pagentry, my first trip to Atlanta and eating a chili dog at the Varsity. I remember my Dad always kidding his uncle about getting drunk and leading the GT band onto the field - don't remember if this really happened. The next Saturday I saw my first game in Auburn when Auburn played the University of Houston.

    It's quite something that Chan and Reggie went 2-0 against AU in their prime. Sure took the edge of the 9 game losing streak we had before that game.
