How To - Yahoo Avatars

It will take a few steps - but they are pretty easy steps - to get your full figure on your Yahoo Answers Avatar.



1. To see your full body avatar click this http://avatars.yahoo.com/download.html?s...:
   
2. Click the jpg option to download and choose desktop (or save it anywhere you will be comfortable finding it in a few steps) and save.
   
3. Now go to your Yahoo 360 page http://360.yahoo.com. If you don't have a 360 page then start a 360 page using this link. http://360.yahoo.com/login.html?.done=http://360.yahoo.com/
   
4. Click "my page" (top of page)
   
5. Click "edit personal photo" (on the left above photo window).
   
6. Click "browse" choose the photo from your photos (wherever you saved it in step 2)
   
7. Click "save", Set as primary and "save".
   
8. Go to your "edit my profile" at http://answers.yahoo.com/my/my_edit
   
9. Click "use my yahoo 360 picture"
   
10. Scroll down and press "preview"
    
11. Click "OK" in the next screen.
    

And you are done - you have a full body avatar for Yahoo Answers!

If you would like to make an avatar or change it click http://avatars.yahoo.com

Click the "appearance" tab to choose your skin color, face and eyes, and hairstyle. Pick your eye and hair colors by clicking on the colored squares to the right of each image.

Click the "apparel" tab You can try on full outfits or different tops and bottoms. Mix and match.

Click the "extras" tab to try out accessories like sunglasses. sports and hobbies gear such as backpacks, bikes, and snowboards. Adopt a cute pet. Or try different hats.

Click the "Backgrounds" tab if you like the snow, the beach, or a nightclub.

As your final step croll down to the bottom of the Profile page and press "Preview", and then "OK" in the next screen.

You can further customize your avatar by choosing extras such as accessories, hats, sports items, pets, and backgrounds.

To add these extras, click the link for the appropriate item in the "Extras" tab. To add an extra to the avatar, click the item. To remove an extra, click the item a second time or uncheck the item's checkbox in the "What I'm trying on" list.

And you are done - you have a photo as your avatar for Yahoo.

By changing your avatar's gender, all customizations to your avatar will be discarded, including:

* Hairstyle and color
* Face and eye color
* Outfits, extras, and backgrounds

Note: Items currently in your favorites area will not be available after you change gender. However, if you change the gender back the items will then be available.

To change your avatar's gender:



1. Go to the Yahoo! Avatars homepage
   
2. Click Preferences (located under the Web Search button).
   
3. Click change

The Avatar Makeover plugin lets you do a makeover of your friends' Avatars and then send it to them. Note that you will need Yahoo! Messenger 8.1 or a later version (on Windows platform only) installed to run this plugin.

Each week, Yahoo features a new avatar on the home page. This featured avatar is also shown on the message boards. You can enter the weekly drawing by clicking the "Submit Your Avatar" link on the home page, and then adding a title to your avatar.

You're more likely to get picked as a featured avatar if you follow these guidelines:

* Make sure your Yahoo! Profile is filled out, and add a photo or your avatar. Adding a link to your Yahoo! 360° page is even better.

* Change your profile name from an email address to a nickname. For example, instead of "free2rhyme@sbcglobal.net," use "free2rhyme."

* Don't use ALL CAPS or extra punctuation (like "!!!!!!!!!") in your avatar's title.

* Don't use profanity in your avatar's title or your profile. Let's keep it G-rated.

* Try to combine more than just an outfit and a background. Use three or more items for variety. Check out the newest items too.

You can enter as many times as you want, but submit a different avatar each time.
