The Aviation Art genre began in the 1970's when art publisher Pat Barnard created a range of aviation prints focussed on World War II aircraft. Until then nobody had thought there was much interest in modern military art.Barnard's masterstroke was to have his prints signed by pilots and aircrews that had actually flown the aircraft depicted in the prints he published.
