There's A Spiritual Podcast For Everyone

The name of this lens might be misleading, because this page is about listening to podcasts, not making one, though learning what you will here might prompt you to want to make your own spiritual podcast. I have been "seeking" spiritually for a few years now, which started with a very dear friend taking me to a bookstore and pointing out some good books. This story can be found on my Law Of Attraction and Beyond lens.

I feel like I have come a long way since that first Abraham-Hicks book and the movie, The Secret. I have been voraciously listening to spiritually oriented podcasts since my partner talked me into buying an Ipod a couple of years ago. I was a little slow to embrace this new innovation, which I thought was only about music storage. Discovering podcasts, specifically new spiritual thought podcasts, positively changed my life in so many areas. I am peaceful and relaxed in ways I could never have imagined a couple of years ago. I was a very big worrier before, handed down by my mother I believe. I was uptight about time and I really didn't feel all that good about myself. Now I don't complain as I used to, I'm able to recognize and stop negative thinking when it occurs and I rarely get angry, frustrated or worry about things. I'm much more comfortable with what is and my ability to work with situations as they arise, with out my old patterns of reaction and disturbance.

I admit and feel blessed that I have work that allows me to listen while I am working. There are many opportunities for taking the time to listen to these very beneficial and enlightening podcasts, from commuting time, to exercise time, to a work environment that allows for listening to an Ipod or mp3 player. I highly reccommend checking out some of the podcasts I will talk about here, many of which are also internet and regular radio shows which can be listened to live.

You will notice on my Law Of Attraction and Beyond lens that it is my strong belief that personal transformation and spiritual awakening should not cost a lot of money, though there is quite a profitable buisiness boom in these areas occurring now. There are many products in the form of educational CD's and DVD's, books, conferences, seminars, both online and in person, as well as personal readings and many different types of guidence cards. I have spent money on some of these products and have been happy I did so, but I have created all of my lenses with the firm conviction that it need not cost a lot of money to bring yourself into a happy, abundant, awakened state.

The Cledon

Recieving messages meant just for you.

The term Cledon comes from ancient Greece and is a form of oracular wisdom, transmitted through 'chance' encounters. The practice in ancient Greece was to ask a question of God or of The Gods, then wander through the market place listening for bits and pieces of conversations that might give the answer to what you are seeking. I first heard about it from Colette Baron-Reid. She gave this brief history, then went on to explain, that when she is giving a reading to someone on her show, that many people might hear a message in the reading that has meaning for them as well.

I have found this to be so true on almost all the different podcasts I have listened to. I have heard so many insights and learned so much about myself from listening to readings given to other people. Whether I'm listening to a show that was recorded yesterday or two years ago, when I listen to it I hear the exact thing I need to hear in that moment. It's often about practicing forgiveness or working to release a fear or guilt about some old thing that's holding me back from moving forward. Sometimes it's about loosening up and having fun and learning not to worry about this or that. It's phenonemal really, how many cledons I have recieved over these last few years, just at the time I needed to.

I offer this information about the cledon because I wanted to share that the wisdom I have found and the divine messages I have recieved while listeing to podcasts have changed my life in profound ways. It's really quite magical how it occurs and if you open yourself to learning and listening you will hear mssages meant just for you, just when you need to hear them.

Finding Podcasts

Tips for finding podcasts

I personally found most of the podcast I listened to by doing searches on itunes. You can search by category and I started out with Law of Attraction, but as I listened to more podcasts and learned more about teachers and ideas, then I searched them. The cool thing about Itunes is that as you search specific categories or even specific people, the little window on the right pops up with other suggestions of podcasts you might like based on the name or category you typed in. Today I just typed in 'Energy Healing' and I got a page of podcasts to check out on Reiki, Qijong and a number of other interesting podcasts that had some discussion about energy healing. It really is very cool and you can search and learn about anything you can think of, all for free.

The Itunes search engine is a little hard to work with, because it doesn't always recognize a host name that you know that they have, but I have found some great shows by stumbling upon them while searching for something specific. To do an Itunes search for these free podcasts, hit the Store button, then the Search button. Then click the Power Search button on the left, scroll down to Podcasts and click that. You can type the name of an author into either Author or Description, or you can type a category, like energy healing, law of attraction out of body experiences or Buddhism into Description. If you already know the name of the show, you can type that into Title. Once you have found a show you think you might like you can right click on it and get a show description, or you can double click the show and start listening. You can go back in then and 'get' all their other shows and you can 'subscribe' to automatically get each new show when it is made.

Itunes has podcasts on everything and many radio shows put their show archives on Itunes. You can find podcasts from energy healing, to quantum physics, astrology, Buddhism, psychic readers, A Course In Miracles, EFT, NLP, Sedona Method, Global Oneness and much, much more. You can also find great travel podcasts about any country as well as free language lessons and travel guides.

Many spiritually oriented websites have radio shows and/or podcasts and if they do, they often have an Itunes link, so that you can get those automatic updates. You can set Itunes to keep the shows after you have listened to them, which I do, because I have gone back and listened to many of them again. If you have a Nano, you might not want to do that, but the listing will still remain on Itunes, it just won't put it on your Ipod.

Insights At The Edge

Insights At The Edge is my new favorite podcast. Tami Simon is one of the best interviewers I have ever listened to and she has incredibly informative guests with truly cutting edge and exciting information for anyone interested in their own spiritual transformation. I can't recommend this podcast enough. I just discovered it about a month ago and I have learned so many amazing things about the latest scientific research on the brain, quantum reality, 2012 theories, and I have listened to some wonderful spiritual teachers on meditation, oneness and healing.

Her guests include Barbara Marx Hubbard, Jean Houston, Kack Kornfield, Caroline Myss, Gary Renard, Ken Wilber, Rick Jarrow and many more of todays leading spiritual teachers. Listening to this podcast is both a great way to learn how to transform your life and discover which teachers you really like and want to learn more from.

Fabulous Podcast

I have my own form of a little black book and it's what I take notes with as I listen to podcasts which feature so many of the new thinkers of today. I have learned about amazing authors and teachers, science and practices that have helped me to evolve to greater happiness and peacefulness. I am sharing some of those things I have learned along the way, which could take some time, as I have a stack of these 'little black books'.

Many of the podcasts I listen to are on The Law of Attraction Radio Network and my favorite of their shows is Law of Attraction Talk Radio with Jewels Johnson (both of which can be accessed through Itunes). I have learned about and listened to so many enlightening thinkers and writers on her show and gotten many great recommendations for books to read and DVD's to watch.

She is a fantastic and well informed interviewer, asking many of the questions that come to mind when listening. She has interviewed so many of the great scientific and spiritual teachers like Gregg Braden, Jo Dunning. Lynne McTaggart, Robert Holden, Bruce Lipton, Colette Baron-Reid, Byron Katie and Jill Bolte Taylor, just to name a few. Even the people whose names I've never heard before have provided really interesting ideas and amazing teachings. I feel that I owe much gratitude to Jewels for her show and how her broadcasts have helped me in my own development.

Audio Dharma

My Newest Favorite Podcast

I absolutely love and highly recommend this podcast.
Audio Dharma is an archive of Dharma talks given by Gil Fronsdal and various guest speakers at the Insight Meditation Center in California since 2000.

There are a number of speakers in their archives and Itunes, but my favorite has been Gil Fronsdal. I love the way he tells stories and relates each aspect of the Buddha's teachings to his own life and experience with his family and community. He has a gentle sense of humor about the activity of our minds and ways it causes suffering. Each talk illuminates aspects of the Buddha's teachings. The purpose is the same that the Buddha had for his teachings, to guide us toward the end of suffering and the attainment of freedom. I have also been listening to Andrea Fella and she is also great. Very knowledgable about the Buddha's teachings, while bringing her own stories in to exemplify our shared human experience as it relates to mindfulness and other Buddhist practices..

Hay House Radio

Radio for your soul

Hay House Radio has an amazing stable of great thinkers, teachers, those who enlighten and guide us toward this truly phenomenal awakening occuring globally. They have clear directions on how to listen live and particpate in call ins, and how to download it to your Itunes to automatically receive each new show as it airs(more about this in the tips section). Hay House Publishing also offers free seminars and programs and an has an extensive online store of their authors books and products.

The Hay House Radio website has the shows and hosts listed by day, by host, by program and there is an extensive list of the archived shows. Some of my favorites are Angel Therapy with Dr. Doreen Virtue, Trust Your Vibes with Sonia Choquette, The Colette Baron-Reid Show and Flowdreaming archives with Summer McStravick. There are so many great shows really. I have also listened to Excuses Be Gone with Dr. Wayne Dyer, Sacred Contracts with Caroline Myss and Ask and It Is Given with Jerry and Esther Hicks. There is a a show for every interest and spiritual question on Hay House Radio and I highly Recommend checking out their website.

Contact Talk Radio is an Internet Talk Radio station that presents cutting edge information geared toward overall mind, body and spirit - connecting the community to activism, metaphysics, personal development, the environment, spirituality, transformation, social responsibility, healing and quantum sciences. It provides listeners with tools that will assist us in making educated and empowered decisions for our lives and our world.

They have a couple of nice features on their site; if you hit the Archive button you can look for shows by topic, such as Affirmations, Alternative Medicine and Healing, Channeling, Business Coaching, Metaphysics, and Science, Astrology, and Personal Transformation. You can also search by hosts like Cameron & Davindia, Venus Andrecht, Kerrie O'Connor, and Vaishali, or by guests, such as Dr. Wayne Dyer, Deepak Chopra, Byron Katie, Gangaji, Eric Pearl, Sonia Choquette, Frances Moore Lappe, Vicki Noble, and Gregg Braden. The guest and show lists are quite extensive so that you can totally fit your listening in with your interests and needs. All of their archived shows are available as podcasts also.

Contact Talk Radio can be listened to live on the web or in the Seattle area on 106.9 HD Channel 3. This link takes you to the host listing by topic, you can then pick a host and click on their name to get a show description and time. They also encourage you to host your own show. They have an extensive F.A.Q section and a media kit to help you get started.

Summer McStravick just moved her Flowdreaming show from Hay House to Contact Talk Radio. Her show is really great for getting you into a very positive energetic place of being. She often does guided flowdreams, which are a bit more active than meditations and I find them to be very encouraging and inspiring for creativity and manifesting.

This will take you to a listing of some great interviews with some amazing teachers such as Bruce Lipton, Gregg Braden, Deepak Chopra J.Z. Knight, J.J. Hurtak and many more.

One of my very favorite hosts here is Jo Dunning. She is an amazing light on this earth and I highly recommend either listening to her archives here or doing a search for her on Itunes, to listen to interviews that have been done with her.

The 7th Wave Network

Radio for the awakening consciousness


The 7th Wave Radio Network is another great and comprehensive network of new spiritual thought, metaphysics, alternative health, ecology and self-development shows. I haven't listened to a lot of them because there are so many, but my current favorite is Awakening to Conscious Co-Creation by Peter Tongue. Click on the 7th Wave link above and check out the lists of show topics, hosts or guests and you'll find shows that are perfect for your own development and interests.

One of my favorite shows at this site is
11:11 Talk Radio. She has some interesting guests and and gets into great conversations with them.
