Raise Autism Awareness

One of every 110 children in America is diagnosed with autism. Chances are you have someone in your family, neighborhood, church or school that has been diagnosed on the autism spectrum. My son was diagnosed with PDD-Nos after his 2nd birthday. My friend's son was also diagnosed with autism. If you have a child with this condition, you know about the stares, whispers and unsolicited advice. Sometimes you have the patience to educate people. Other times, you are just tired and overwhelmed. My friend Desiree Lee decided to do something about this predicament. She created autism awareness merchandise that include kind messages that alert others to a child's special needs. Find a large variety of autism awareness products including jewelry, shirts, bumper stickers and more!

Enjoy!

Why Create Autism Awareness Products?

Autism Awareness Products

This autism awareness merchandise was created by Desiree Lee. She is a very creative, artistic woman and a mother to an autistic son.

Some Autism Stats from the CDC site:
# It is estimated that between 1 in 80 and 1 in 240 with an average of 1 in 110 children in the United States have an ASD.
# ASDs are reported to occur in all racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups, yet are on average 4 to 5 times more likely to occur in boys than in girls. However, we need more information on some less studied populations and regions around the world.
# If 4 million children are born in the United States every year, approximately 36,500 children will eventually be diagnosed with an ASD. Assuming the prevalence rate has been constant over the past two decades, we can estimate that about 730,000 individuals between the ages of 0 to 21 have an ASD.
# Studies in Asia, Europe and North America have identified individuals with an ASD with an approximate prevalence of 0.6% to over 1%

In case you're wondering about these unique autism products, here's why Desiree took it into her own hands!

"Couldn't find it so I designed it! All online, shop anytime, ship anywhere in US. You never know what my crazy mind will cook up."

Desi Lee is a mother to a beautiful son, who happens to have autism. She has been one of my closest friends since high school. (Hey, that's a long time!) We both have an autistic son. (My son is diagnosed with PDD-Nos at 2 1/2 years old). She saw a need for products that made people aware of an autistic child's needs. Let's face it. If you have an autistic child, you have experienced the unkind and unwanted advice complete strangers offer when you're child is having a meltdown due to sensory overload. Many people mistake a sensory overload meltdown with a bratty tantrum. Yes, you can take the time to explain your child's condition. However, most of the time your attention is focused on your child's meltdown while people are running their mouth. This autism awareness merchandise makes others aware of a child's condition. Life with an autistic child is difficult enough, having to explain your child's condition over and over is very draining. This is the perfect solution.

Hope you enjoy Desi's creations. Please, consider picking up a few gifts for yourself or a friend. Thanks in advance for sharing this site with your friends and family by email, Twitter, Facebook or other social media sites!
