Cancer Awareness Ribbons: Colors and Meanings

Ranked #4,519 in Healthy Living, #80,422 overall | Donates to Squidoo Charity Fund

Awareness Ribbons Are Increasing In Popularity All The Time

Awareness Ribbons are a great way to show care for a cause you feel passionate about.

Yellow Ribbons made their emergence onto the United States scene sometime in the early 1990's. During that timeframe there was a big Yellow Ribbon drive for the soldiers serving in Operation Desert Storm, which is how I first became familiar with them. My brother served our country in Operation Desert Storm.

Today, there are so many of these swirled ribbons on the backs of cars and on every imprintable item imaginable. There are even multi-colored ribbons and most every cause has a ribbon now.

Today, the colors have multiple meanings so it can get a little confusing.

This lens will cover strictly the Awareness Ribbon Colors and Meanings for Cancer. So if you or someone you love is fighting a battle, a survivor or recently lost the battle you can pick the appropriate color Awareness Ribbon merchandise.

My lens donates to The Squidoo Charity Fund. Everything product offered on here donates to that cause through Squidoo. Early prevention, treatment and cure of cancer are a big passion of mine as three very close loved ones who were very big influences in my life lost their battles to cancer in 2008-2009.

It is a cause I am very passionate about and I do this in memory of my wonderful mother, Sandy Mathisen, my Aunt, Doreen Bodino and my sponsor and friend in my candle business, Bill VanDorn. Each of these losses has been great and the only silver lining in this cloud is that I have three fantastic angels watching over me today.

I hope that this lens helps you wade through the Cancer Awareness Ribbon Colors and their meanings.

Being aware of the early signs and how to prevent getting sick with cancer is important as we do not want us or those who are close to us to be stricken with this disease. Luckily, there are doctors, cancer research fundraisers, support groups as well as medical scientists who dedicate their expertise in informing the public with regards to the various kinds of cancer. Those who shoe support to this cause proves that they care for others.
