Ranked #104,459 in Business, #755,009 overall

The "Inquiry into certain Australian companies in relation to the UN Oil-For-Food Programme" was instigated by the Australian Government following the expressed wish of the Secretary-General of the United Nations Mr Kofi Annan in a statement issued on 27 October 2005 with the release of the report of the Independent Inquiry Committee into the United Nations Oil-for-Food Programme (the Volcker Report).

This site contains information about the Inquiry and in particular about matters relating to AWB Limited.

The report was published on 27 November 2006. It found possible breaches of the law by AWB Limited, AWB (International) Limited and certain of its directors and managers. It made no adverse findings against  Alkaloids of Australia, Rhine Ruhr, BHP or Tigris Petroleum. It made no findings against the Australian Government. The Commissioner found there was no evidence to support an inference that the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade turned a blind eye to allegations.
