What is an Awkward Turtle?
The awkward turtle is the hand gesture that's sweeping the nation. No one knows for sure where it came from although most people are sure that it started in their home town and that their brother's friend's cousin invented it.Basically it is a gesture that is used in the midst of an awkward moment in order to ease the tension. Using the awkward turtle is a more suave way of saying "well, that was awkward!"

How to do the Awkward Turtle
1. Place both hands in front of you.2. Put your right hand above your left, palms down. 3. Stick thumbs out sideways.
4. Rotate thumbs in circular motion to simulate turtle legs.
5. Practice until you can do this in one fluid movement for optimum awkward commentary

The Origin of the Awkward Turtle
There are many people who claim that their roommate or their sister or someone else close to them invented the awkward turtle. Some claim it began in California, others say New Hampshire. The true origins of the Awkward Turtle are a mystery however.I believe that the Awkward Turtle was a gift to humanity. There is no single moment or place that the turtle was "discovered" for the Awkward Turtle has been around since the creation of the universe itself!
Perhaps our global conscious has just recently opened up to the possibility of the turtle, allowing society to make use of this marvelous gift.

Really, the more random you are the better. Remember, people feel awkward when you invade their personal space and privacy so standing close to someone and asking invasive questions is usually a sure fire way to create awkwardness.

- Choose one person in the group and stare at them. When they look at you give them a big smile.
- When introduced to someone new give a short bio of yourself. ie: "John Doe here. Member of good standing in the city of Faketown, currently working as a cashier.
- Alternatively, when introduced to someone new you could ask an awkward question such as "do you like tug boats?"
- Wink at people as they are talking.
- As you're hanging out with friends say "Does anyone mind if I call my friend Kevin and invite him over?" When someone asks who Kevin is say "my imaginary penguin"
- Blow kisses to random people in the room
- Laugh hysterically when someone tells stupid joke
- Laugh hysterically after you tell a stupid joke
- Laugh hysterically for no reason at all

- I''m one of the folks that have never heard of the Awkward Turtle.......but I love it. I've experienced those awkward moments....now I know what to do. At least I'll be asked what I'm doing!
