Are you decorating your house for Ayyam-i-Ha this year?

I love Ayyam-i-Ha decorations, and suggest these ten ideas for decorating your home during Ayyam-i-Ha. Baha'is have no set scheme for decorating though most of us have a picture of 'Abdu'l-Baha and the Greatest Name in our homes. During Ayyam-i-Ha we like to do a little extra to remind us of this joyous season, just before the fast.

You can store your Ayyam-i-Ha decorations the rest of the year and bring them out just before Ayyam-i-Ha each year. You might like to keep them out throughout the fast until Naw-Ruz on March 21.

For those who haven't heard: the Baha'i celebration of Ayyam-i-Ha takes place each year from February 26 through March 1. During leap years there are five days, and during other years there are four days. These are days of celebration, parties, gift-giving, charitable acts and contributions, and preparation for the Baha'i Nineteen Day Fast.

Ayyam-i-Ha means: "Days of God" . . . These days of celebration are also known as "Intercalary Days", in reference to the Baha'i calendar.

Angel Ayyam-i-Ha DecorationI love to decorate with angels. Angels for Ayyam-i-Ha! The word 'angel' means messenger. You could put your angel statue on a table with index cards and have friends and family write encouraging Ayyam-i-Ha messages to one another. Or you could put a stack of cards there, each one with a beautiful quote from the Baha'i Writings. Then whenever someone comes to your house during Ayyam-i-Ha you could let them choose a card at random for their special verse!

Their unerring vision conceived its matchless design. 'Abdul-Baha's own hands laid its cornerstone. Their dynamic faith reared its structure. I have friends in New Mexico who are of the Baha'i faith, and I know that they will love seeing this. Forwarding the url to them right after I post it to Twitter. This is the first Squidoo lens I've seen on the Baha'i celebration of Ayyam-i-Ha, and as such, I really appreciate learning about this holiday.
