Champa Kingdom & Doodle Art

I was a history student with keen interest and curious with the Art of Champa Kingdom.

* The kingdom of Champa was an Indianized kingdom that controlled what is now southern and central Vietnam from approximately since the 7th century. Champa finally disappeared in World Map after 1832 by The Emperor Minh Mang. Continuous wars has forced Champa peoples to escape to all world, most of them became refugees and reside in countries worldwide. They have lost country and become minority race until today.

My passion in doodle Art has prompted me to deepen Art of Champa and at 2010 I started my own project Champa Doodles with detailed doodle illustrations which is influenced by Champa Bricks, Flower, monuments, architecture and characters. My goal is I may not bring the kingdom back, but I want to bring the Champa Art in Doodle Art.

Haven't Lost

In my personal thought, the special asset to doodle Champa Kingdom is their ladies. Lady in Champa plays a vital role in families and society plus their lost Kingdom. As I grow up at Malaysia, I perceive a minority Champa peoples get involved in business economy where the wife helps husband to earn money for live and take care of family. Instead, behind husband's success was his wife. In some source, Champa also belived practice matrilineal law which is emphasise mother's race in some authority such as inheritance property rights. But matrilineal law does not exist in Champa Muslim. Perhaps it does in Champa Non Muslim at Indochina.

Description:
* She is Cham lady, hurt, and still dreaming.

She dream about her lost kingdom in the past, but she never get to bring her kingdom back...
she only can imagine it, feel it, heart it,
...and believe will all her heart that her kingdom haven't lost as long as she sensing it.

A Kingdom Of Wishes

The artistic legacy of Champa consists primarily of sandstone sculptures - both sculpture in the round and relief sculpture - and brick buildings. Unlike the Khmer of Angkor, who for the most part employed a grey stone to construct their religious buildings, the Cham built their temples from reddish bricks

Michelia Campacca

A Flower of Champa Kingdom

Michelia ChampaccaI believed each country have national flower. As Malaysia having Hibicus as national flower, Champa Kingdom have Michelia Campacca as national flower. However, there is other source said Plumeria were national flower of Champa Kingdom.

*Plumeria alba is the national flower of Nicaragua and Laos, but is only referred to as "champa" in Laos.*

But after consider other sources, I much comfortable to choose michelia campacca as Champa national flower. When my first try to doodle Michelia Campacca flower, I try not to imitate the real shape of that flower. But I keep doodle of this flower with my own way and unique as Champa Kingdom.
