It wasn't a Rock, It was a Rock Lobster!

The B-52s burst onto the music scene in the late 1970s, combining elements of New Wave and dance music, earning them the nickname of "The Ultimate Party Band."

B-52s at a Glance

The B-52s' sound is marked by the vocals ? the female harmonies of Wilson and Pierson, and the generally spoken-word or sprechgesang male vocal counterpoint of Fred Schneider. The resulting unique "guy vs. gals" vocals, sometimes used in call and response style (as in their songs "Private Idaho" and "Good Stuff"), are a trademark of the band. Presenting as a positive, enthusiastic, slightly wacky party band, the B-52s have focused on songs telling tall tales ("Rock Lobster", "Girl from Ipanema Goe...

The B-52's : World's Greatest Party Band
It has been said that the B-52's are as quintessentially American as the Beach Boys. And thirty years and over twenty million albums into their career, they remain the among the most beloved rock stars ever. Known as "the world's greatest party band," the B-52's have attracted legions of faithful, fun-seeking fans with their unique sound and electrifying stage show.

The B-52's
Like Blondie, another New Wave band with 50s roots, but from Athens, Georgia, rather than New York, and with a more highly developed sense of camp. Most songs were co-written - though I believe lead singer Fred Schneider was primarily responsible for the lyrics - and a democratic approach prevailed in the recordings as well: each band member had an individual sound, all adding up to an instantly recognizeable whole.

Kate's Lazy Meadow
Hi, this is Kate Pierson and I'd like to personally invite you to Kate's Lazy Meadow Motel, my cabin fever fantasy. Monica and I have tried our best to create our dream getaway right here in the Catskill Mountains, near famous Woodstock, New York.

As a member of the rock band, The B-52s, believe me, I've stayed at them all - from the Four Seasons in LA to the Pink Flamingo Motel in Gatorville, Florida. I do know a motel from a hotel, or a no-tell!
