B2C telemarketing

What Is B2C Telemarketing?

B2C telemarketing is calling people at home.

That is all it is, nothing more. Telemarketing companies would work for clients that need to sell to homeowners and call up homeowners to sell such products.

This could be life insurance, and the process would be as follows:

1/ The life insurance company gives a calling script to a telemarketing company, and a list of 10,000 home owners.
2/ The telemarketing company then calls each homeowner up to sell the life insurance.
3/ The telemarketing company feeds back the results to the life insurance company and hopefully some orders.

The alternative is that the life insurance company brings on a sales person themselves, and gets them to call through the prospects.

Why Do Companies Use B2C Telemarketing?

All companies need to sell - that is basically what it comes down to.

If you have a product that is not bought by businesses and cannot really be sold in a shop, then telemarketing is the obvious route.

B2C telemarketing is a necessary evil, if we work for a company selling a consumer product (such as a will writing service, home insurance then we could justify it to ourselves.

As homeowners, we do not like being called up whist having dinner, or watching our favorite TV program or even when wanting to get an early night.

The alternative route for many businesses is to use a different form of marketing and the obvious choice would be TV advertising. However due to the cost of TV advertising, this makes it an option for companies that have lots of spare money. Most consumer looking businesses cannot afford to do this so need to look at either web advertising, telemarketing or mailing.

Due to the way the economy is, and the fact that competition is high in most sectors; businesses do need to be pro-active and push for business. Telemarketing is the best route.

What Is B2C Telemarketing Like?

Hard work in a word.

No-one likes getting calls at home whatever the time of day it is.

For businesses, there is the understanding that sales calls are just part of life, and that they will continue to happen for as long as the telephone exists.

However being called at home is different, you are not at work and your personal time/space is being invaded. This coupled into a chirpy person on the phone trying really hard to be up beat and optimistic can be very annoying.

It is hard work for the callers also; the people that are making the calls. The abuse they must face, when they are just doing their job. To call up home owners ever day, day after day must be hard work and generally people do not give much in the way of understanding to the caller.

Around the world there are thousands of calls to home owners being made, selling products and services of all types; why - because it works. It people did not respond and buy from being called at home, then B2C telemarketing would have died off and companies would not use it opting for other forms of marketing.
