Baby Acne

The majority of the reports about baby acne come from the mothers of boy infants. That does not, however, imply that a girl infant could never have baby acne. Acne can appear between the second and third week of the baby's life, and it then disappears by the time that the baby becomes between 4 and 6 months old.

A young mother who finds baby acne on her infant's cheeks might feel compelled to try all types of creams on that acne. Most creams do little more than aggravate that skin condition, thus causing the baby to itch even more. Still, a young mother does not like to see reddened skin and whiteheads on any part of her infant's face.

What then should a baby's mother do? The recommended acne products are a solution of ionic colloidal silver. In order to insure the effectiveness of that acne treatment, the mother must clean the baby's face with baby soap and water once a day. The mother should avoid a more frequent washing of the baby's face, as that too can aggravate the baby acne.

Young mothers who feel motivated to do more for an infant with baby acne must realize that certain conditions and certain situations can serve to worsen a case of baby acne. A baby who is in a room that has too much heat could have a terrible bout of baby acne. A baby that senses tension in a family might show signs of a baby acne flare-up.

A baby's allergies to food can be assessed by introducing one food at a time. It is more difficult to learn what fabrics might elicit an allergic reaction. If a baby has an allergic response to something that he or she is wearing, the resulting allergic reaction could take the form of baby acne.

Mother's use bibs on a baby to keep spit-up milk off of the baby's clothes. That spit-up milk can still get on the baby's face. Once on the skin of the face, that milk can help to aggravate a case of baby acne. Even the drool from the baby's mouth can irritate the facial skin. That too can contribute to the factors that might worsen a case of baby acne.
