Senior Squids Reflect on being a Baby Boomer

A Baby Boomer Lensography of Sorts
The Baby Boomer Generation has lived through some pretty incredible history in our lifetime. We listened as man orbited the earth for the first time, we saw a President assassinated, we marched for civil rights, and protested the Viet Nam war.We have witnessed advancements in technology from the space program, telephones, televisions, and computers.
As children we heard the beginnings of Rock n Roll music in the 1950s and made the bands of the 1960s reach stardom. In the 1970s we danced our hearts out to the disco beat.
We drove the muscle cars and chopped motorcycles.
We were flower children, hippies, freaks, and geeks. We were soldiers, draft dodgers, and conscientious objectors. We were Woodstock!
And now we are at a time in our lives where we should be Storytellers. We should pass on to the next generations the history of our lives.
Things we heard as kids: Be sure to fill the ice trays, we've got company coming.
Baby Boomers Memories of Youth
Reflections on our childhoods and as we grew how we became aware of the history before us. The Baby Boomers began to look at the world differently. They became more politically active and for the most part still are. Our generation worked at getting things changed.-

New Orleans has always been a magical city, but was more so in the 1950's and '60's. During that time people sat on their front porches and watched all the children of the neighborhood. Children could play in Audubon and City Park without fear and co...

A Baby Boomer's Life Through Music

Babyboomers And Technology
-
The world is nothing like it was when I was a little girl. The most technological we got was a two-party phone line and maybe a (manual) typewriter or a fancy (for its time) brand new car. I never dreamed of what's going on today with computers! It i...
Baby Boomers Lived Through the Cold War
Although we like to remember our childhood as an innocent time, we baby boomers also lived in a state of fear during our childhood. We were taught to know where the nearest fall-out shelter was. Maybe our Dad's built one in our own yard. We were drilled at school about getting under our desks or to travel in single file down to the school basement to be protected. My friend Alex, aka Drifter0658, wrote this incredible lens which describes very well what the Cold War fears did to the children at the time.

Fallout Shelters

Handsome fallout shelters popped up like imagined mushroom clouds during the diplomatic standoff known as the Cold War. The face to face confrontation between the United States and the U.S.S.R held the world in a vice for half a century with the thre...
A Generation That Has A Sense of Humor
Senior Squid, Sylvia aka boutiqueshops shows the world what a great sense of humor that Baby Boomers can have. We can look back at what would be deemed as child abuse now or at best neglect and we can laugh about it. Sylvia shows the lighter side of what life was like growing up as a "Boomer".-
