Boomers- Be the best you can be with Proper Nutrition

Good Nutrition helps Baby Boomers and Older Adults

Time flies by faster and faster at this stage of life, so the best we can do is become the very best we can.

Don't worry if you are not doing as well as you would like right now, with a little help you will be feeling fantastic!

We have heard the term Anti-Aging, but as I have read lately it is really a misnomer. We age from the day we are born-until we die. But, I still do say we can slow things down by what we do and how we take care of ourselves.
In my research, I also read that a healthy lifestyle is Age-Defying instead of Anti-Aging. You may call it whatever you wish.

What I know for sure is that I want to slow the aging process down as much as possible-all the while having a fantastic time, being vital healthy and alive.

Do you feel the same? If you do, follow the links on this page to other topics to find the help that is just right for you.

Good Nutrition Can Make the Difference for You and All Baby Boomers

Good Nutrition makes a world of difference for Baby Boomers, Mid Lifers, Older Adults-on anyone at any age.

Baby Boomer and Golden Boomer Concerns

Jack LaLanne has almost lived to 100

The Senior Journal says:

What Do People Over 50 Care About?

"According to the Senior Journal, the top concerns for baby boomers are longevity, finance, and health care. I think finance and health care probably concern most US adults, and I guess as we age, we do start thinking more about mortality."

oppapers.com says:

Baby Boomer Health, Money, And Retirement Concerns
"Baby Boomer Health, Money and Retirement Concerns
As the Baby Boomer generation continues to grow older, their concerns have shifted to their health, money and retirement. The days of wondering where their next vacation should be and whether their bonus check will be as much as they deserve are passing. Today, Baby Boomer issues are mostly about concerns with maintaining their health and having enough money to live comfortably through their years. As people grow older, they often experience problems with their health. Their bodies grow more fragile and susceptible to diseases. Many people 50 years of age and older are reporting health problems that were not experienced by people in their same age group long ago. This problem is created by rising health care costs. As the Boomer generation begins to require more medical care, the cost of that medical care continues to increase."

This site will help you with your health and wellness concerns - if you allow it.

Another Great Age Defying Activity - Use Exercise

What types of exercise should Baby Boomers do?

2 Couples jogging

1. Cardiovascular workout-working the heart
30 minutes of moderate cardio exercise a day would be great.
Try brisk walking, running, swimming, biking, or exercise videos
If you don't have time in your day for the full 30 minutes, try breaking it up into three 10 minute bouts of exercise throughout the day

2. Strength training
Work those muscles twice a week for 30 to 45 minutes by doing exercises such as:
Pushups (if you're a beginner, do them against a wall to start)
You may use resistance bands, free weights, machines, resistance in the water with Aquatics, etc.

3. Flexibility training

Be sure to stretch out every day and work on your flexability.
.
Don't forget Balance exercise, as we age it will help us not to fall. It only takes two to three minutes

5. Abdominal s or Core training

Try a few minutes of abdominal exercises
Crunches are key - not full sit-ups. This is a small movement.

Keep back on the floor and don't go all the way up
Or you may do these in the water for a great abdominal workout.

The Age Defying Bottom Line:
Exercise is really important to your health and your sense of wellbeing. Not exercising has been considered equal to smoking in its negative effect on heart health. Baby boomers who exercise regularly are less likely to experience depression, weight gain, diabetes, high blood pressure and sleep disturbances and may help to ward off cancer and dementia. Exercise is a supplement that you want to take most days of the week, for the rest of your life, no matter what your age.

Have fun, get fit, but take care. Build yourself up slowly, and please be sure to check with your health care provider.

Balance means Including Fun Recreation and Being with Family and Friends

With that in mind, here are some other important aspects of a healthy lifestyle.

I call it my "Don't Forget to Stop and Smell the Roses" Series in honor of my dad.

This isn't all of them, but I hope it will help you to take the time to relax.

Wow, this is so cool - I was researching Heber Springs for something quite unrelated to Squidoo, and I found you through the article published in the Sun Times (http://www.thesuntimes.com/lifestyle/x647558856/Calling-all-Baby-Boomers-middle-aged-and-mature-adults). I was amazed and delighted to see a link to Squidoo! Way to GO!!! So of course now I'm about to join your fan club and see what else you've got cookin' here while I marvel at how small the world has become. I am delighted to have found you. Cheers and a big thumbs up!
