Don't Know Which Baby Double Stroller to Buy?

Many parents struggle to decide which double stroller to buy for their children. Should they buy a twin or a tandem, lightweight or one with more features but heavier?

There is a wide selection available to suit all needs and I hope you will find something here to suit you.

Choosing The Best Stroller For Your Baby

Are you struggling to make up your mind which stroller to buy for your new baby, or have you another addition to your family and are looking to buy a double stroller? There are strollers to suit every need. Singles, doubles, lightweight, jogging, umbrella, the makers have thought of everything.

There are a number of things you should consider when choosing. Some are safety features that you should look for with every stroller, others are additional features that may come with more expensive strollers. Additional features are nice, but that does not mean that cheaper models do not offer good value for your money.

Comfort for your child or children and ease of use for you is of primary importance, decide what is right for you and buy accordingly. Many parents are tempted to buy the latest model, only to find that it is totally unsuitable for their needs.

Five point safety harness The five point safety harness, going over the shoulder,
around the waist and between the legs, is the best harness although the three point harness is also safe.
Check that the model has a safety mechanism to prevent the stroller from accidentally folding down.
Balance. The stroller should have a good balance and hanging a bag on the handles is dangerous!
Fully reclining seat. A newborn baby should have a fully reclining seat to support the
neck. If you are buying for a toddler this is not so important, particularly if you are
looking for a less expensive, light stroller.
Washable covers. Babies can make a mess!
Wheels. Larger wheels make for a more cushioned trip, particularly if there are shock absorbers, but of course this can result in more weight. Some tires are now air-filled.
A large size storage area is always desirable unless you only want a quick, lightweight stroller.

Most mothers will probably buy two strollers as their family grow up. Young babies
need the kind of comfort and protection from the elements that was found in the old fashioned prams once manoeuved around the park by nannies. Many modern
strollers offer that degree of comfort, but they are often heavier models and as
children grow they are harder to push. A three or four year old will be walking more, but there are still occasions when they need to ride. Cheap, light, umbrella strollers are the perfect solution for this age range. Some makers are producing more and more lightweight models, even double strollers, that can be used from birth through to 4 years and still be easy to push, so it is worth shopping around.

Finally you should be very careful if you decide to buy a secondhand model. Stick with a well known brand and as well asmaking sure that it works properly, ensure that the model has not been recalled. You can do this at www.cpsc.gov.

Combi

Combi Twin Savvy Double Stroller - 2008 - Black / Wasabi

A smart looking stroller, the Combi Twin Savvy has a lot of additional features at a reasonable price. Weighing only 21lbs and supplied with a handle for transporting when folded, this stroller can carry a total weight of 90 lbs.

The model is fitted with 5 point harnesses, deep reclining seats and independent wheel suspension to ensure a smooth ride.

There is a removable guard fitted with cup holders and Mom is supplied with two storage baskets and a stroller pack with bottle pockets and a zippered pouch, so there is plenty of storage space.

The stroller also accommodates one Combi Connection Car Seat.

Other features make this model well worth a closer look.

Approx.Price $330.00

Tip

If your stroller has air-filled tires, always carry a puncture kit.

Graco

Graco DuoGlider LX Double Stroller - Margo

An inexpensive model but not lacking in quality, Graco is a popular stroller manufacturer with parents.
Weighing 30lbs, this is not too heavy a model and it will take children weighing up to 40lbs each. It has both 3 and 5 point harnesses and accepts
Graco Snugride or Safeseat car seats. The elevated rear seat offers better viewing for the child.
The extra large basket for shopping or carrying essential baby items is useful.
The front and rear seat design means it is easy to manoeuvre through doorways.
I used a front/rear seat model until the oldest child didn't fit and it became too heavy for the steep hills where I live! I found it useful as it caused less obstruction than the wider models.

Price Approx $159.00

I have seen some lovely used strollers for a fraction of the new price. Check your local paper or Craigslist for a bargain.

5 stars for sure! Feel free to add it to the Everything Twins and Multiples group I run. I have the Graco Duoglider - it's great, but heavy! I also have the Joovy Sit N Stand which I love, but the seat up front is very narrow. My 3 year old twins are growing out of it fast. Thanks for stopping by my lens.
