So the purpose of this post is to make mothers and fathers aware of the alternative treatments that doesn't involve prescribed creams that has nasty side effects.  I have put together some simple tips here, so that if you find yourself in that situation you may actually be able to help the little one!

What You Need To Know Before Treating Baby Eczema

First, Eczema, also commonly referred to as atopic dermatitis, is a skin condition that millions of Americans deal with, so you and your baby are not alone.

Second, there is no clear cut cure for this skin condition. But, you can treat the symptoms, prevent the flare ups, and in some case, children actually grow out of their baby eczema.

Third, there are many different causes for baby eczema. Eczema can be hereditary, meaning if someone in your family has it, your child may too. Although eczema is often compared to allergies, it is slightly different. Certain allergens, including food and airborne allergens can bring on an eczema outbreak. Another common cause is the chemicals found in laundry detergents and scented bath soaps.

Helpful Tips For You and Your Baby

Tip #1 - Get New Bedding

Firstly, make sure all bedding is 100% very soft cotton, and cleaned regularly with unscented detergent. If it's not cleaned very very regularly, tiny bacteria can and will build up, and it's these bacteria which will cause the itching and irritation in baby's skin. You can also apply this tip to your baby's clothing.

Tip #2 - Bathe Baby Regularly

This is the most common cure for Eczema babies. It's been suggested that your baby should be bathed at least once per day, twice if at all possible. Obviously the temperature of the water needs to be correct to prevent baby getting a chill. The bathing will help reduce the amount of bacteria and microbes attacking baby's skin, which should in turn reduce the Eczema symptoms.

Tips #3 - Keep Baby's skin Moisturized

Most adult Eczema sufferers will tell you that keeping their skin moisturized brings them great relief. Well, it turns out that this can be true with your baby. The problem with baby eczema is that it worsened when the baby experiences stress. As the baby doesn't know what the itch is or why it's happening, it produces stress in your baby, which in turn makes the itch worse, which increases the stress, and so on. It's a vicious cycle for your poor little one. I've use unscented moisturizers and it did relieve a lot of my son's stress. The best time to moisturize is right after you bath your child. It's best dab baby dry with a very soft towel, and apply a suitable moisturizer directly to the damp skin. This will help lock the moisture from the bath into the skin, increasing the effect.
