CHRISTMAS BABY SHOWER CUPCAKES

QUICK, EASY and INEXPENSIVE CUPCAKES FOR HOLIDAY BABY SHOWERS

Coconut Snowball Cupcakes by Matt Lewis and Renato PoliafitoIf you have lots of money to spend on Christmas baby shower cupcakes that have been professionally decorated with fondant Santa Claus, reindeer, elves or even red and green holly with berries this lens is probably not going to tickle your fancy. However, if you ran out of dough somewhere between the Christmas baby shower invitations and the decorations, my recommendations may be exactly what you're looking for!

SNOWBALL CUPCAKES

These cupcakes are everything a hostess needs to make her holiday festivities sparkle and shine and the beautiful thing is that they are cheap and easy to make yet make a lovely presentation. You don't even need a special recipe, just pick up some silver or gold cupcake sleeves (or some with your favorite holiday print would be fine for a casual celebration), fill them with the best tasting cake batter ever (I personally like red velvet for taste and for show) and use a white frosting. After the cupcakes are baked, cooled and frosted sprinkle the tops with grated, coconut and VOILA...snowy, Christmas baby shower cupcakes. For some color add a light dusting of sprinkles.

EASTER BABY SHOWER CUPCAKES

Ideas beyond Peter Cottontail and Dyed Eggs

easter baby shower cupcake ideas

When ladies gather to toss around Easter baby shower ideas, inevitably, thoughts turn to decorating with Easter Eggs and bunny rabbits. And believe me when I tell you that I'm on board with both decorations that shout "Hooray for Peter Cottontail" for casual get togethers on the lawn or by the pool.
easter bunny baby shower cupcakes
But what are some baby shower cupcakes ideas that could you use if you have something more elegant in mind or perhaps wanted your party to have more of a Christian or religious theme? Colored eggs and bunnies are cute as can be, but they are not indicative of the spiritual side of Easter.

I have seen cupcakes decorated with a simple cross which is certainly in keeping with this special holiday. But for a shower, I would have the bakery soften the design with some trailing vines or a carefully placed flower or wreath. Another image of Easter that comes to mind is the Dogwood flower. Each beautiful white blossom's petals have markings as if it had been burned with the touch of a tiny cross. If you are not familiar with the Legend of the Dogwood Tree, please a minute and read the story. After you read it you will understand why I believe that cupcakes decorated with dogwood flowers would make lovely baby shower cupcakes decorating ideas for Easter.

HALLOWEEN CUPCAKE DECORATING IDEAS

QUICK n EASY GHOST CUPCAKES

cute halloween ghost black and white fondant cupcake topper easy beginner
I love cake decorating ideas that don't involve spending hours of time coloring fondant. Talk about a workout for your hands; not to mention that you have to clean up all those containers and store the leftovers in bags after you're done. Taking such care is a pain, but making homemade fondant takes lots of work and store bought fondant is not what you might call cheap.

When I see cute Halloween cupcake decorating ideas like these ghost cupcakes that are in plain black and white that really rings my bell. The ghost is made from white fondant which doesn't require any gel food coloring at all! That means they will be cheap to make. And the ghost toppers as well as the circles of fondant laid on the crumb coat are cut out with cookie cutters which means you can pop these quick n easy ghost cupcakes together for the kids in a jiffy! If your Trick or Treating schedule is as hectic as mine FAST treats equal GREAT treats!

Cat Cupcakes that the Kids can Decorate

Entertain the children at the shower by letting them decorate their own desserts

Most of the cupcakes decorated for the baby shower are elegant, professionally done and perfect as the baby whose birth you are gathered to celebrate. But, sometimes you have an over abundance of cupcakes that might be useful to entertain the older children in attendance.

Decorating cupcakes can be a part of the fun at your shower. Kids don't always get the freedom they desire in the kitchen at home, so give them the chance to decorate cupcakes they can eat or provide some boxes so that they can take these edible shower favors home with them for later.

Here are some instructions for some easy kitty cat cupcakes that require very little in artistic abilities beyond a basic layer of frosting. To make the process super easy, have the tops of the cupcakes already frosted so that all the kids have to do is decorate them. You might want to have one or cupcakes already decorated as examples. Organize cupcake sprinkles, whiskers, ears and eyes in bowls.

We were coming up with ideas for a fall baby shower, so our kitty cat cupcakes had a Halloween theme, but you can change the colors to suit your needs.

To make the ears of the kitty cat cupcake, bend the Hollow licorice twists to make a V and insert two of these shapes in the top portion of the frosted cupcake. Position two of the jelly Bean halves where the kitty cats eyes should be. Add the red gumdrops nose and use a few strips of licorice for the whiskers. It's a good idea to already have the jellybeans and licorice twists cut in appropriate shapes and sizes to make decorating the cupcakes as easy as picking up the items out of the bowls.

HALLOWEEN CUPCAKE IDEAS

Spooky cupcakes for the baby shower

Black cats, goblins and witches on their brooms might seem unusual decorations for a baby shower. But to a mother to be with a late fall due date and a love for anything to do with Halloween; Halloween theme cupcakes are in order.

Your cupcake display might be a bright orange arrangement of pumpkin cupcakes. You could skip the Jack o' Lantern look for Halloween cupcake ideas and decorations for a fall baby shower in favor of plain pumpkin designs with a bright green stem and pretty green papers.

Decorating these cakes would take no more skill than to smooth orange buttercream icing and tuck a sliver of green jelly bean in the top for the stem. If mom doesn't mind a bit of Trick or Treat in her baby shower theme, cut out some black fondant shapes to take care of your Jack o' Lantern's facial features.

HAWAIIAN CUPCAKE DESIGNS

Cupcake ideas for hawaiian themed party!

Call me crazy, but for some reason Hawaiian cupcake designs popped in my head when a friend asked me for something unusual and unexpected for a shower she was hostessing. At the time of her question it was snowing cats and dogs outside and it struck me that what could be more unusual in the middle of a blizzard than tropical stuff like hula girls and beach decorations.
tropical flower cupcakes

Truth is, you could frost some cupcakes and stick some paper umbrellas in the frosting and call it a day. Some palm tree picks would work, too. If you can make flowers, a single hibiscus flower on the top of each baby shower cupcake would be lovely. You might even take it a step further and frame each individual tropical flower with its own personal lei that circles the top of each Hawaiian cupcake design.

You can use our Hawaiian baby shower cupcakes decorating ideas even in the dead of winter to take your guest's mind off of the cold temperatures with desserts designed around hula girls and tropical breezes.

Shamrock cupcakes St. Patrick's Day

These may not be the most beautiful shamrock cupcakes that you will ever see, but they are easy to make and decorate yourself. All that's necessary is your favorite cupcake recipe, some white frosting, green M&M candy and some green gumdrops.

You can see from the pictures how to decorate your lucky shamrock cupcakes only I like to use four pieces of green candy rather than three. All you have to do is place your candy to look like the individual leaves of a four leaf clover and then snip a tiny piece of green gumdrop to use as your stem.

FUN MONKEY CUPCAKE IDEAS

A taste of home with a wild jungle animal twist.

Monkey cupcakes are a natural choice for a celebration or party with a swinging jungle feel to it. Tarzan, Jane and the rest of the gang will be tickled pink to see their favorite chimpanzee decorating the dessert table.

Individual cakes with delicious dark chocolate frosting can be enhanced with the additon of a few vanilla wafers, two gumdrop eyes and a strip of red licorice candy.

Here are the instructions:

BEEHIVE CAKE MOLD

The beehive cake pan will create a cute centerpiece for a bunch of honeybee cupcakes

bee cupcakes beehive bee cake pan bumble bee cakes

The beehive cake pan will mold a detailed, quick and easy centerpiece that will have your guests buzzing in amazement at your unique, edible baby shower centerpiece. Surround your big bee themed cakes with bumble bee cupcakes, float a few of these cute helium filled balloons shaped like black and yellow bees around the room to pull your guests eyes upward.

Beehive cake molds are reusable and that's good because your friends will want to borrow it. But be sure that they return it after their baby shower or party because you will find so many opportunities to shine as a party planner and a cook at events where beehives belong. What kind of party would be appropriate for this kind of cake?

Why not host an environmental soiree where the topic is the disappearing numbers of honeybees and work it into a Winnie the Pooh baby shower! You may not be able to find a cake mold shaped like a honey pot, but you will have the beehive itself covered.

ICE CREAM CONE CUPCAKES

Cupcake pans that offer the fun of ice cream without the messy drips

If you haven't ever eaten ice cream cone cupcakes, then you are in for a real surprise. The name might lead you to the assumption that you take a regular, ice cream cone and pack an appropriately sized piece of cake that has been baked in a round shape inside either with or without ice cream. And then perhaps there would be any number of cupcake decorating ideas utilized to give the dessert a personality closely related to the celebration for which the baby shower cupcakes were baked for in the first place.

You would be partially correct in your guesswork. The idea of a cupcake in an ice cream cone with a marshmallow on top is not bad by any stretch of the imagination. However, some cupcake recipes might not shine to their full potential when a crunchy bite of wafer is included in each and every nibble.

How can we have the cute look of ice cream cone cupcakes without the crunchy cone taking away from the flavor of the recipe? The answer would be an ice cream cone cupcake pan! This is truly one of the most easy baby shower cupcakes decorating ideas on the planet.

You can skip the cupcake papers, save the cones for days when ice cream alone is enough and maintain the integrity of your favorite baby shower cupcake recipes by baking individual cupcakes in a pan that turns out cupcakes shaped like ice cream cone cupcakes.

CUPCAKE STAND 101

Should I get a pyramid, pedestal or a tree?

Platters are fine, but they can't touch an elegant cupcake stand when it comes to turning your party treats into a stylish and stunning decorative centerpiece. I found this out when once upon a time in preparation for a shower, I baked dozens of beautiful cupcakes, took them out of the oven and frosted them to perfection with cute little toppings and sprinkles. After I finished and stepped back to admire my creations, they were just sitting there.

You might have thought that with my very best baby shower cupcake recipe and the cool baby shower cupcakes decorating ideas that I put to good use that that would be enough. But it just wasn't. I expected to have the most stylish centerpiece in town only to see them sitting there in all their glory with something missing.

I took a visual inventory of the array of cupcakes on the platter and was pleased with the colors and the craftsmanship but quickly came to the conclusion that what was lacking was HEIGHT.

It was late in the day and there was no time to run out and purchase a 6 tiered cupcake stand clear across town at the mall. I dug in the china cabinet until I found some of gran's antique cake stands and made them work. The results were amazing and the very next day I made the trip to the mall and bought not only a pyramid cupcake stand, but a tree stand (not the deer hunting kind) and a mini-cupcake stand.

For the sake of easy serving, large platters work just fine, but when you want your dessert to be part of the baby shower decorations buy a stand to show off your baby shower cupcakes decorating ideas.

The goal of this lens is to compile baby shower cupcakes for all
Many of our suggestions will be perfect for most any occasion, but some are without a doubt "baby specific".

For instance, everybody loves monkeys. They are fun and make people feel happy and laugh. Therefore, you don't have wait for the next tiki shower to whip up a batch. But cupcakes decorated with rattles, pacifiers or diaper pin decorations will have to wait for a birth announcement.

This page is a work in progress (especially since the the powers that be tend to squeak when I let it lie idle) but scroll on down the list and you will find frequently updated cupcake decorating ideas, pictures and instructions for some really cool cupcakes for your celebration.

CUPCAKE IDEAS

Decorations good enough to eat

Taking the time to come up with unique baby shower cupcake theme ideas, bake them from scratch and then decorating them might seem like too much to deal with to some busy hostesses. However, when it comes to money saving party planning techniques, cupcakes should be at the top of the list.

The best way to keep the budget under control is to find decorations for the shower that serve double duty. For instance, diaper cakes make a beautiful centerpiece that your friends will admire during the festivities and at the end of the day, the guest of honor takes home something pretty filled with diapers and baby items. Can we pull off the same trick with the items on the menu?

The clever, creative hostess can use her cupcakes in much the same way. All that's necessary is to choose one of the many cupcake themes and then carry it out with appropriate decorations, tableware and some cute cupcake ideas.

There are lots of pictures to use as examples in albums where people display their gallery of photos taken at the latest get together. Add your own style and flair to the little round cakes and they can provide an integral portion of each individual table's décor.

Decorative cupcake ideas begin soon after they are removed from the oven and allowed to cool which is the optimal time for frosting in the best colors to go along with your paper and plastic party decorations. You will have fulfilled the requirements of your supply list for your cupcake ideas beforehand so that immediately after the frosting phase, the addition of the edible embellishments can commence.

There are many ways that cupcakes can be arranged once they have been decorated in fabulous designs and colors. Large silver platters can be covered with artfully designed cakes that are covered in sprinkles that sparkle like jewels or your decorative masterpieces can be layered and stacked in intricate arrangements. Now is the time to make use of your pedestal cake plates and hors d'oeuvres trays that your grandmother gave you or if you prefer something more modern, buy some inexpensive cupcake stands that will display your culinary handiwork to full potential.

It's worth it to take the time in your busy schedule to bake cupcakes to take the place of expensive floral arrangements. Your cupcake ideas are much better because unlike flowers that serve no other purpose than to decorate the tables for a few hours, our cute cupcakes decorate as well as provide a tasty dessert.

SOCCER CUPCAKES

How to Make Soccer Ball Cupcakes the Quick and Easy Way

Soccer cupcakes aren't just for kids end of season team parties. If mom or dad were football stars in their day, you might want to pay tribute to their abilities when celebrating the birth of their baby allstar with a few clever sports minded baby shower cupcakes decorating ideas.

I have seen several cute ways to make soccer cupcakes, but being the lazy (and in my defense extremely busy) cook that I am, I like the maximum amount of decoration for the least amount of work.

Some ambitious bakers take a platter of individual, unfrosted cupcakes that are arranged so that their sides are touching each other on a large platter.
They then proceed to frost all of the cupcakes to make them into one large, round cake. Once the tops form a solid surface, the outlines of the seams of the soccer ball are drawn and the black spaces filled in. The results are one large soccer ball cupcake that will be pulled apart when time comes to serve.

If you want to know how to make soccer ball cupcakes the EASY way, buy some sports theme cupcake toppers, bake your cupcakes and pop the toppers and picks on top and you are good to go without ever having to load a pastry tube.

For a girl's soccer baby shower or party, you could add some sparkling cupcake sprinkles, a colorful butterfly or a pretty red and black ladybug to give your soccer ball cupcakes a more feminine look. For a boy, all that's necessary is sports theme paper cupcake liners and the designs on top.
