Baby Shower Ideas

Because I became stumped with Baby Shower Ideas when I was planning a Baby Shower for a dear friend, I decided to do some investigating.

Very typical of a woman - I wanted something that my friend would be thrilled with, and that the other ladies would also actively enjoy and be open in their admiration. Face it - we are destined to want to impress! :-)

I wanted some guidance on Baby Shower themes.

Invitation templates that were easy to create real life invitations from, without me needing to go to the expense of printers, or use what everyone else does from the local store.

I wanted some delicious recipe ideas - things my friend's hadn't tried before. That were again easy to make - as I, like most of us, am time poor.

And of course I wanted ideas for Baby Shower Games & Party Ideas.  And also Gift Ideas for the Mum-to-Be.

So I went on a hunt to see what was out there online. As I have found more and more that the answers to my questions are pretty much always to be found online.

It's just a case of sorting out the best ones. And I wanted something that was a combination of traditional, yet modern. That had flexibility and also diversity.

So I had LOTS of ideas to choose from.

Well - I hunted high and low, and I found it right here: Baby Shower Ideas

What I learnt from it was a lot more than I expected.

This is some of what I learnt:

a) The Theme must match the personality and style of the Mum to be

b) Pick a venue that is going to be most comfortable for everyone - easy to get to, and relaxing to be in - and again reflects the personality of the mum to be.

c) Keep sake items and hand made gifts make the most special presents to give to the Mum to be

d) The importanct of having a gift registry - so people know what to get and the Mum to be gets one offs of things she needs/wants

e) Use an icebreaker game if there are going to be people there who don't know each other.

That's some handy hints. Better yet I got given Theme ideas. Recipes. Invitation ideas. And well, so so much more...

Free Baby Shower Cup Cake Recipe

Right now gorgeous little cupcakes are all the vogue.

You have Katie Holmes taking them on set, and many a Hollywood glamor queen seen chowing down on them as they strut the streets of LA.

How can you not indulge?

They are just too delish - and perfect for a Baby Shower.

You can decorate them in pink, blue and lemon icing with divine little sprinkles, lollies and so forth on the top.

You can find little baby ornaments and put them on the top of the iced cupcake.

Here is one of my favorite cupcake recipes. This is super easy to make - and even easier to eat! :-)

White Chocolate Cup Cakes

Ingredients
8.5 ounces unsalted butter, at room temperature
5.5 ounces white chocolate, chopped
2 cups caster sugar
1 cup milk
1 1/2 cups plain flour
1/2 cup self-raising flour
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 eggs
assorted lollies, icing flowers and candles, to decorate.

Frosting
8.5 ounces unsalted butter, at room temperature
3 cups icing sugar mixture
Assorted food colorings

Line 20 holes of 2 x 12-hole muffin pans (1/3 cup capacity) with paper patty cases.

Combine butter, chocolate, sugar and milk in a large pan. Stir over a low heat, until chocolate is melted and sugar is dissolved. Transfer mixture to a large bowl. Cool to room temperature. Stir in combined sifted flours, extract and eggs. Mix well.

Spoon 1/4 cupfuls of mixture into patty cases.

Cook in a moderately slow oven (320F) for about 30 minutes, or until cooked when tested. Stand cakes in pan for about 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool.

To make frosting, place butter in a bowl. Beat with an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Gradually beat in icing-sugar mixture until well combined. Divide mixture into separate bowls and tint with food coloring.

Spoon icing into a large piping bag fitted with a large fluted tube. Pipe icing onto cakes. Decorate with assorted lollies and candles or baby ornaments.

Tip
Un-iced cakes can be frozen for up to 2 months, thaw at room temperature before icing.

ENJOY!
