I love knitted booties. I guess they are old-fashioned but who cares? They are wonderful to keep babies feet warm. Well done.

These are precious. Baby booties might be old fashioned, but who cares. They are cute and adorable.

Yes, and wonderful!! Old fashioned doesn't mean "bad" to me. You have done a wonderful instructive lens here. I am an expert crocheter but have never knit anything. I could do these with your great instructions!
  • miaponzo Nov 4, 2011 @ 1:39 pm | delete
Not at all! I love making my own knitted things.. I did everything for my first two daughters!
    Blessed!

Could someone explain how you knit the sides up? I am very confused. Thanks!
  • imolaK Nov 3, 2011 @ 1:43 am | delete
For stitching the sides together follow the instruction at "More knitting instruction" section. In the photo you'll see that you'll have to put the side stitch on the knitting needle and you'll got a row. The side stitch is lifted on needle and knitted together with the first stitch which is already on your needle. When you finish this row, on the next row you'll repeat everything .
  • Cat Nov 1, 2011 @ 11:43 pm | delete
Could you please explain to me how you Knit the sides together. Or did you mean to sew them together? Please help I am very lost!

I love to knit, and once I had it as an additional income. Now I have a little time, but never gave up knitting. I will try to show their works in the near future and to describe them. Thank you for inspiring.

These booties are so adorable. I used to knit a great deal when I was a child. I really must begin again. I would love to make some of these baby booties to give as gifts. Thank you so much for the excellent instructions. Appreciated!

I think new moms appreciate the thought and work that goes into knitting a gift for their baby. I made a pair for my sister's first born and a receiving ... well, I guess your can call it a knitted sack with a hood. Its for winter time, I lined it with a soft material, the new baby slips in and can be taken out to the car in cold weather. I made the booties in a soft baby color and the carrying sack in rust and browns. My sister said she was so happy to receive a gift that was something other than baby colors. She used the receiving sack with all three of her young ones. Now would one call it a sack or a poke ... or something else?

Explained oh so very well. I used to knit so many items and baby booties was one of my favorites. They knitted up so easily.

I am not a great knitter but surely love these baby bootees, great to receive hand made gifts.
  • ellagis Aug 5, 2011 @ 3:43 am | delete
No, I don´t think it´s old-fashoned if you mean with old-fashoned something less nice than the "new-fashoned"!!! I think it´s a very nice thing to do, that allows to have such lovely bootees!! I would surely try to do it, if I had a baby (well, probably I would try to do it before having the baby, because maybe after I would not have the time!), and I would follow your lens, because it´s so detailed and clear!

I have to answer yes and not to your question.... I think that knitting baby bootees is both old-fashioned and very new - because people today are knitting baby bootees and it is a modern thing, but also a thing that started long ago. I love baby bootees and they are such a cute, practical thing to make. I liked your lens!
