What to Do With Eczema in Children?
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Marie_Marks]Marie MarksWhat to do with eczema in children is something all parents want to do.
Have you ever wondered why your kid keeps on scratching? Does it sometimes drive you nuts? The scratching is not only irksome but you become frantic when you see the red marks which sometimes become bloody. What is this and what brings about this itchiness?
This is known as eczema.
Children and adults both suffer from this skin disease at any age. Even infants can have this skin irritation. One out of ten kids develops this skin disease. It would be wise to check with your physician or dermatologist as soon as you see the rashes. Infants and kids until 5 years old will get this skin rash usually on their forehead and cheeks.
Aside from being red, the skin is also dry, swollen and sometimes ruptured. Never take this for granted lest this further develops into moist lesions. This kind of skin irritation can be very annoying and throb with pain if left untreated. As children mature, eczema will spread to other extremities like their knees and elbows and at times on their wrists and ankles.
You will get to notice circular and flaking skin around these areas.
There is no need to keep your kid away from other children or from other persons as this skin condition is not infectious. As long as your child has medication, he can continue with any of his activities like any normal kid. You can prevent this eczema from affecting your child. Wash the infected skin with warm water and use a mild, fragrance-free soap. Wipe gently with a soft towel and spread moisturising cream on your child's wet skin.
Moisturising the skin at least two times a day helps relieves itchiness. Let your child wear cottony clothes that will not further irritate his skin. Prohibit your child from playing with his pet which will be detrimental to his skin disease. Restrain your child from rubbing the infected area and cut your child's fingernails regularly and keep them clean. Best of all there is nothing greater than the sweet and devoted care that you can provide for your child.
