Could have really used this a few years ago LOL

I find singing to ours sometimes helps, as well as just saying Baba or mama or similar simple syllables to him. Sometimes, he is just grumpy, and nobody but my wife can pacify him.

You sound like such a good daddy. Thanks for the comment on my hub ;-)

    Comprehensive lens. Good job!

I would also suggest white noise playing in the background. It will calm your baby down. Learn more about white noise and babies.

Every baby is different, you just have to see what works for your little one. We found a sleep device that really helped us. ?Sleepy Bee? (sleepybees.com) We would turn it on like 10 mins before wanting to get her to fall asleep and she would related the sound to sleep. It's kinda like sleep training. Or the Pavlov's Dog theory. haha! ...not to relate our baby to a dog, but you get the point. :)

Great lens. I have a 7 week old daughter who obviously cries a far amount.
Still, she is getting better. Only cries when hungry or bad gas.
some good stuff here for when she gets older. 5 stars

Thanks for all of the great feedback everyone. It really can be pretty daunting trying to figure out everything your baby will need when you first bring them home. I have found a lot of things that helped stop my my 3 boys from crying. But, for the most part their mother always seemed to work best. With her working at night it could get pretty hard sometimes. Thomas seems to sense when my wife is home and sleeps all night on those nights. But, when she is at work he gets up a few times crying. Usually putting his pacifier back in works. But often times I need to give him a bottle. I guess their is just nothing like a loving mother, even a loving dad doesn't come close when they are little.
    Thanks for visiting.

This lens is brilliant! Just what a new parent needs. My kids are all grown but I could have used advice like this back when they were little. Five stars for you...

I agree, no one likes to hear a baby cry. Especially Mom or Dad. Lucky for me, I'm past those baby crying years. Just on to new and better challenges. 5* for a great lens.

Hi allinfoisfree, that is a great suggestion. My wife would always sing to our kids to make them smile or to just calm them down. Unfortunately whenever I attempted singing they would just cry worse. I guess I don't have much comforting of a voice or at least can't sing. I always had to stick to making faces and walking around with them. My wife could calm them down like magic.

Great lens! One thing I didn't see on here that we use to do with our second daughter. She would start crying and I (my wife and other daughter joined in) would start singing to her. It calmed her right down. I don't remember it working like this with my first daughter, but some babies just need some nice music to feel comfy. :)

Hi Janet21, we actually have a ceiling fan in our living room and I always find Tommy staring at. I guess it is pretty relaxing.

Great lens! When my son was cranky and crying, staring at the ceiling fan calmed him down. Thank goodness we have ceiling fans in a lot of the rooms in our home. :)

I miss the snuggling but not the crying now that my baby boy is 7! Well I still get some snuggling but he seems to be all elbows and knees...definitely not the same as the melty baby feel (after the crying has stopped).
