I had a pattern for square toed bootees that I had gotten from the "Work Basket" in the 50s. it took 4 needles to knit and they wouldn't fall off the baby's feet. I lost this pattern and would like to find it somewhere. Now I have great grand children and would like to knit these bootees for them. does anyone have this pattern?

Mary, take a look at this pattern, they do call it a "stay-on-the-feet" pattern: http://www.crazyauntpurl.com/archives/2009/09/little_baby_toe.php

If you lived close to me I'd love to help you learn. You might try going to a yarn shop and find someone willing to teach you. It's quite easy but it helps to have someone at hand to see you through the places where you might get stuck. Good luck, and thank you for the compliments, so appreciated!

Helena, thanks for the kind message. I don't have the pattern for that hat, if that is what you are asking about. But I will look around for one, it doesn't look too complex. Knit on!
  • bekat May 19, 2011 @ 10:09 pm | delete
I'll even spell your name right, Helana. Yes that picture was too adorable to resist!
  • HelanaRirosknee May 19, 2011 @ 9:31 pm | delete
There are a lot of great projects here. I'm sure I will knit some of them. Do you have a pattern for the first photo ? Too cute !!!
  • bekat May 30, 2011 @ 1:39 pm | delete
Helana, I've added a pattern for a hat similar to the one in the photo that you admired. Let me know if it works for you. Kathryn

BUSY moms may be busy, but they still don't want their baby's skin next to ucky synthetics. Choose a beautiful organic cotton yarns http://www.fabulousyarn.com/organiccottonyarn.shtml or even silk - like Use Artyarns Regal Silk http://www.fabulousyarn.com/fabyarnpage_artyarnssilk.shtml , or Blue Skys Organic Cotton - they are all easily machine washable if necessary on GENTLE, and will stay with the baby until college!

Lemming13, thank you a million times for that great tip. I had no idea there was a subtopic for knitting etc. I'm on my way!
  • Lemming13 Apr 22, 2011 @ 7:44 am | delete
This is a really great lens and I've blessed it; but it might get more traffic if you change the topic to Arts & Design - there's a sub-topic for Crochet, Knitting and Sewing. I got caught out like this too, kept putting my crochet lenses in Other Hobbies because I see needlecrafts as a hobby rather than art or design, but I've got a lot more traffic since I changed to the other neighbourhood. Love those baby hoodies, by the way.
