Great Ideas from the Baby Quilt Queen!!

Don't you just love baby quilts? They're my favorite projects for several reasons. It's a great opportunity to test out new techniques and blocks because you aren't making a huge commitment. They're small enough to finish quickly so you can move on to the next thing. And they're a great opportunity to try color combinations and fabrics you might not use otherwise.

Not to mention, baby quilt patterns are just fun to fun to make. You know at the end of this, you'll have something that will be loved and (hopefully) used for several years.

We're looking at great baby quilt patterns in this lens, but know that any pattern can be a great and unique baby quilt with a little thought.

Let's Talk Baby Quilt Patterns!

I've already gone on record as saying there really isn't such a thing as a baby quilt pattern. My thinking is that what makes it a baby quilt is who you give it to, which in turn dictates the size and fabric choices. Not that patterns can't be designed specifically for a baby quilt (and thus would be strange to give to an adult male!), but don't get yourself trapped into thinking only something labeled "baby quilt" will work for a baby.

Is there really such a thing as a baby quilt pattern?

There is such a thing as a baby quilt pattern!!

Tiddledeewinks says:

Although you can use any pattern, especially in a small print or scaled down version, I think there really IS such a thing as a baby quilt pattern. They are fun themed for the little ones!

I'm with you. Any pattern will work.

Are You a Fanatic about Baby Quilt Patterns?

What's your favorite approach to a baby quilt? Do you make them for charity or give them to friends?

gods_grace_notes

I don't have any baby quilts yet, but my daughter is making them for her baby hope chest!

I love baby quilts...they are simply irresistable, and I can't wait until it's time for our first baby that gets to sleep in those handmade blankets of love!

Great lens,
Connie

I love all handmade quilts! I collected some vintage 1960's-70's from eBay, but don't have any baby quilts. I made a small quilt to fit a chest-seat top and a woolen one for my car once. I've always wanted to do baby quilts as they wouldn't take as long.I like appilqued and log cabin types.

Nice! Does she want to be a guest blogger? :-) I adore doing baby quilts, mostly because I'm too ADD to do the same pattern for long. I have managed one king-sized quilt in my lifetime, which I insanely decided to hand quilt. Only about halfway through after seven or so years. :-(

I want to be the first to rate this lens! Love baby quilts! My mom is 88 and until her eyes starting failing was the baby quilt queen.
