Baby Sleep

Many parents are in a quandary over how to get their restless and fussy child to sleep. Not only is the child losing much needed sleep, so is the parent. And one cannot help but to feel somewhat helpless over this fact when it seems nothing they do works. This is where Baby Sleep Solutions comes in. This is a thirty-five minute program in audio format designed to help parents of sleepless children learn how to get their children to sleep.

This method offers twenty-two techniques on how to get your baby to sleep and sleep through the night. Because every child is different, some techniques may work better than others. This audio course offers 18 quick tips and 5 major techniques to try to get your baby to sleep without rocking, feeding, or other things that many parents have to do in order for their child to get rest.

If you are unsure whether this program is right for you and your baby, you can download a free snippet of the course to listen to. The free sample download includes three quick tips that are included in the main program, such as helping your child differentiate between wake time and sleep time by making sure the room they are in gets darker towards sleep time. The suggestions given for doing this include opening all blinds and curtains in the morning and even turning on lights if you have to in order to teach your child the difference between night and day. At night, begin making things darker by closing all the blinds, and curtains, and turning off the lights.

Some other tips that are included in the course deal with where your child falls asleep, what your child sees upon waking every morning, and the importance of them sleeping in their own beds. It also covers the best positions for your baby to sleep in, bed time activities that are soothing and conducive to promoting sleep, and the importance of a mother's diet while breast feeding and how it affects the baby.

There is also a free 12 page ebook offered on the site that covers six baby sleep secrets. Some of these tips are covered in the Baby Sleep Solution audio course, but this ebook is a handy and convenient refresher. Things such as bedtime routines, naps, transitional objects and the difference between natural bedtime and changing bedtime are all included in this short book.

The testimonials of parents who have used this method to get their children to sleep have been very favorable and the developer of the product, Mr. Chris Towland, offers a 100% money back guarantee if the parents are not happy with the method. He asks that parents try the method for a full eight weeks before requesting a refund.

Hopefully, some of the tips included in the small .PDF or in the main audio course itself will help parents with restless children fall asleep. With discipline and determination, both parent and child can find themselves peacefully sleeping once again.

Sleep Apnea in Children

Baby Sleep Disorder

by David Gilmore

When my son showed up at my door one morning with tears in his eyes, I knew something was dreadfully wrong. His young son had been rushed to the hospital because he stopped breathing. The local hospital was making arrangements to transfer the child to another facility that specialized in caring for infants and children. My son was extremely upset, as any parent understandably would be. The hospital ran a series of tests on the child, finally telling his parents that he was suffering from sleep apnea.

After a brief stay in the hospital my son was permitted to bring the child home. But things would be very different at least for a while. The child was to wear a halter type monitor until he turned one year old or at least until a sufficient amount of time had passed without further evidence of sleep apnea. The parents were provided with all of the equipment necessary to be alerted should their child stop breathing. The next several months were filled with frequent visits to the doctor and sleepless nights watching over a child wired to a small device.

Sleep apnea can be a terrifying experience for parents. In sleep apnea the child stops breathing during sleep. While it is thought that there may be a connection between sleep apnea and SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome), none has been proven as of yet. There may be some indication that sleep apnea is inherited although that remains inconclusive as well. There is no known cause of sleep apnea though it may well have to do with enlarged tonsils and adenoids.

The term apnea simply means an interruption in breathing. During sleep apnea the baby completely stops breathing. In most cases, the child will resume breathing on its own again. This is a frightening and dangerous situation. Parents always have the fear that the child's breathing may not resume normally. Sleep apnea seems to be more common in children from birth to the age of three years, although it can occur in children older than three and the condition does affect some adults as well. Premature infants may be more susceptible to sleep apnea since their respiratory systems are not mature.

Infants that experience this condition shortly after birth may be kept in the hospital a little longer than usual to be monitored by an alarm system. Although sleep apnea usually disappears after a few weeks, it may last longer. If the child continues to experience repeated episodes, he or she may be sent home with a monitor to be worn so as to alert the parents to future episodes of sleep apnea. The child's progress will be monitored and the physician will decide when it's safe to discontinue use of the monitoring apparatus.

I am happy to say that by the time my grandson was a year old, he had no further episodes of sleep apnea and is perfectly healthy. Sleep apnea may not occur as frequently or last as long as it did in my grandson's case. There is really no way to determine if a child will be prone to bouts of apnea. In the event that sleep apnea may be inherited it would be prudent to inform the physician if other children of family members have been affected by the condition. If you have any questions or concerns regarding sleep apnea don't hesitate to consult your physician. Being informed is being safe.

7 Tips To Getting Your Baby To Sleep

Getting Your Baby To Sleep

by David Gilmore -

One of the most common complaints of new parents is the inability to get babies to sleep. When a baby refuses to sleep, the child's parents often must also sacrifice sleep. Further, babies that refuse to sleep are often restless and cranky, making the day even more difficult for new parents. This article will share 7 tips you can use to encourage your baby to sleep.

Tip #1: Stick To A Schedule

Like most adults, babies like routine. Once encouraged through consistent training, a baby will often eat, sleep, nurse and do other activities at the same time each day or night. Try to promote a sleep routine for your baby by getting them ready for bed at the same time each night and waking them at the same time each morning.

Tip #2: Be Realistic

Even though babies like routine in the same way most adults do, you still need to develop a realistic frame of mind regarding when and how much your child sleeps. Your baby's sleep needs will be different than your needs. And it is likely they will wake at least once during each night. Planing ahead for these minor inconveniences will prevent you from becoming frustrated.

Tip #3: Relax And Calm Your Baby

A baby that is relaxed and calm throughout the day is more likely to sleep peacefully than a baby that is anxious or excited during the day. If you notice that your baby is sleeping fitfully during the evening, try to take note of circumstances throughout the day that may have led to his or her fitful sleep.

Tip #4: Set A Consistent Eating Schedule

Often, babies will forget to eat during the day. Obviously, it is the parents' responsibility to feed the child, but without prodding, a baby can be distracted by playtime or other activities. Try to feed your baby at the same times throughout each day. This will teach them that eating is typically done during the day while sleeping is usually done during the night. Setting a consistent eating schedule helps reinforce this training.

Tip #5: Give Your Baby A Bath

A bath can have a soothing effect on a baby. Try to give your baby a bath just prior to putting them down for the night. After a bath, your baby will likely be relaxed and calm. Such feelings encourage sleep.

Tip #6: Going From Light To Deep Sleep

Most babies do not fall instantly into deep sleep. Instead, they go through a process of sleep where the first 15-20 minutes are spent in light sleep. You may find that your baby wakes once or twice during this time. You may even find your baby trying to stay awake during this light sleep. Often, your baby simply does not want to be alone. Invest an extra 10 minutes with your baby. Stay with them until they fall into a deep sleep. Once they do, the chances of sleeping peacefully throughout the night is greater.

Tip #7: Nestle Down

This is related to the tip above. As mentioned, babies often want to know that you are there. After rocking or feeding your baby, lie down next to them so they can feel your body next to their own. This snuggling provides great comfort to a baby and can help them fall into a deep, peaceful sleep.

When your baby does not sleep, you often must sacrifice sleep, too. But, there are many things you can do to encourage your baby to sleep peacefully throughout the night. Try to apply the tips above. Chances are, you will find your baby not only adopting a regular sleep schedule, but also sleeping more restfully each night.
