Dahn Yoga DVD teaches yoga poses for back pain, nerve conditions

Backaches are a widespread problem in the U.S., and not just because many people have trouble maintaining good posture or finding a comfortable sleeping position. Nerve conditions like sciatica and multiple sclerosis (MS) have millions of Americans wracked with aches, which is why Dahn Yoga exercises for lower back pain are so important.

MS is a degenerative disease of the nerves that causes pain, stiffness and difficulty walking or balancing. It is quite common, especially among women aged 20 to 40, according to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke.

If you suffer from MS, sciatica or even general backaches, here are a few yoga poses for back pain that you might want to try.

1. Lower-back energy gathering. Plant your feet shoulder-width apart and turn them slightly inward. Press your hips forward. Now, place your hands on your lower abdomen. You should feel warm, tingling energy as it makes its way from your lower back to your core, where it belongs.

2. Ankle rotation. While sitting with your legs out before you, rotate your feet and ankles in opposite directions. Make the circles as wide as they can comfortably go! This can ease lower-body stiffness.

3. While still in a sitting position, tap your feet together at the toes while breathing deeply. This simple exercise is great for the headaches that can come from back pain.
