Back up Your Online Content with Evernote

Back up Your Online Content with Evernote

Maybe I am just unlucky but I recently had my account closed at HP. I had close to 6O large Hubs there some containing many photos. HP decieded a week ago that a Hub was substandard. No guidance as to why. I re wrote it and it was accepted/ I was getting followers and positive feed back then I got up one morning and found I'd had no traffic. Checking my HP account I found all Hubs had been unpublished.

After three separate emails I got an anonymous email from HP tell me my account had been closed because a hubs content was substandard and wishing me well.

No if I hadn't taken some simple precautions I would have had serious problems retrieving and reusing my content.

As it happens I am moving all of my content over to Squidoo- following advice from great people on the forum. The process is easy because I made backups of everything using Evernote.

I will explain HOW and WHY in this Hub

Evernote

Ok I believe this is the most useful application I have found for Publishers. There are several Lens on here about Evernote but nobody seems to be using it the way I do.

One of the dangers of using a third party website to publish content in is that they can , without any warning whatsoever remove content or even worse move it to a location where you do not earn a penny.

Like most authors I publish content on several platforms and I have worried about content being lost and having no effective back up system.

Back it up with with Evernote

The system I have adopted now whenever I publish content online for example at an article site, hub pages,Squidoo etc is :
  • Publish it
  • Note entire page with Evernote
  • Tag the note ie Hub,squid,EZA etc
  • Move to separate Evernote notebook ie Archive

Squidoo Offline?

As I get to grips with Squidoo I find a LOT of really useful Lens with content related to what I am doing for example finding ideas writing promoting traffic generation etc.

Using Evernote I can note the Lens and keep a copy on my iphone to read off line. This has proved really useful as some writer here have shared a lot of information across several related hubs and referenced other Lenses. They are all now available on my laptop and phone to be read at my leisure.
