The obvious need for someone backpacking would be that a Hammock be light and easy to carry. Comfort will be another element of concern. I know what you're thinking, it will be small and uncomfortable, there has to be some kind of sacrifice, but NO! Try hanging mattresses up off the ground while your hiking, not to mention - how would you get it there? You can sleep in comfort up above the damp ground in a hammock that resist mildew, washes and dries easily and comes in some fun colors too. If you want to use it to get noticed try the Red and Orange combinations. They really command some attention. If you'd rather blend into the scenery, forest green would be a preferred choice.
