Help out my HomeSchool

Hi, as a homeschooling dad of 5, every little bit helps when it comes time to buy our own school supplies.  Luckily, this year I found out that if you shop at Office Max and use my Maxperks ID number, I can earn up to $500 worth of free school supplies for me and the kids. Listed below is a link to the school supples we will be using (it's not a complete list because many things we already have), but basically if you buy anything from Office Max either online or at the store and you present my card number we can get credited for the purchase towards earning us supplies.

Thank you very much,

Tracy

MaxPerks ID: 600114697

PS Feel free to purchase any items whatsoever for yourself or your own kids from the list or the Office Max website, the list was done just for myself so that my wife and I had a rough idea of what other items we needed to get. Our homeschool will get credit only if you present them with the correct ID number, so make sure to order online and use ID 600114697 or if you go to the store I believe you have to use the printout of the card which can be had by printing the page from the link above.

Getting Supplies for Back to School

Here in America, back to school time for many communities is anywhere from early to late August, but most stores have already started doing sales on their back to school supplies.

Now is an excellent time to start getting your lists together and figuring out how to best supply your kids with all their school needs so as to beat the rush that will occur in the next month.

Make sure to bookmark this lens because I'll constantly be adding more information throughout the rest of summer.

Getting Started for the first Six Weeks

This year we are trying a little different approach, kind of a rough cross between Montessori and unschooling. We are going to have each kid do a product or service to sell and will give them seed money to start with, and then they have to come up with their own business plan and write it up, do the math to see if they can make money or not, and then try to market and sell their product or service.

The other thing we are doing is going to a six week period, where at the beginning they each give us at least 5 things they want to learn about, then the first five weeks they concentrate on learning those things, and the sixth week they each have a day to do a presentation to the others with a test on everything on the final day. That way they each can pursue their individual pursuits but can help the others to learn by teaching them what they discovered.

Once the products or service is figured out, I will do a squidoo page for each kid to monitor progress.
