How you use an Arbor depends on what you want to achieve. A sunny corner may suit the cat, but most people like to sit in the shade to read. A scented rose to walk under is a delight on a warm summer's day. Be creative!

Rustic or Colonial
It goes without saying that the choice of paint or preservative depends on personal preference and surroundings. An arbor on its own may well look better varnished or preserved, whereas one which is part of a painted fence or structure will look odd if left unpainted. - I am obsessed with arbors. I think they can transform the dullest garden into a beautiful romantic place,.. add climbing roses and you have an aromatic little haven.
