Getting good putting practice is an invaluable way to improve your golf game, and having your own place to practice will allow you to develop your own good putting habits, and to put together a routine you can repeat automatically each time you putt.

Visualize the putt before you play it. See it happen, see the line the ball will take, and see yourself sinking it.

Use your arms and shoulders ather than your hands and wrists when you putt.

When putting uphill, aim to putt beyond the hole to prevent yourself putting too short. It is always better to putt a little way beyond the hole than to putt short. If you always putt short, you will invariably take too many strokes to hole the putt, whereas if you consistently putt long you are more likely to hole the putt in fewer strokes.

Don't hurry. Walk the putt, move around to the other side, or remove bits of loose material. Don't rush yourself or you may find your attention as jumped ahead to the next tee shot rather than the putt you have yet to make.
