The Ultimate Sandwich
The sandwich was first created in 1762 by a London Gentleman, John Montagu. Montagu was a nefarious gambler (and sex pest). The story goes that he was gambling hard one night and began to feel hungry, he was very reluctant to stop playing cards and bow out of the game, but his stomach was empty and he needed to fill it. Montague had a bright idea, he ordered one of the waiters to bring him slices of roast beef between two slices of bread. The reason that he wished to have this was because he wished to keep one hand free so that he could hold his cards and so that the grease from the beef did not get all over the cards. The reason that Montagu's creation became known as a sandwich is that John Montagu was the 4th Earl of Sandwich.
The sandwich comes in all manner of varieties today and the fillings are numerous. There is a sandwich for everyone, if your a vegetarian there is cheese and pickle, if you do not like beef there is pork, if you have fancy tastes you could have a caviar sandwich, there are even gluten free sandwiches available. New sandwich recipes are being developed every day, some of them are wierd and wonderful, some are elegant, some are filling, some are complete disasters.
This page is dedicated to the the tuna and bacon sandwich. To most people putting tuna and bacon on a sandwich seems to be a strange combination and I have gotten some strange looks from people when I have told them about this recipe. I discovered this sandwich filling when I was a student. It all started when my flatmate turned 21, a group of us went out to celebrate his birthday at our local pub. We all got quite drunk (as students tend to do). We staggered back home in the early hours of the morning and I had the midnight munchies. I knew that if I didn't eat something I would end up with a mad hangover the next day so I raided the fridge. All I found in the fridge was several cans of beer, some tuna mayo and some bacon. I drunkenly decided that since I was too drunk to cook, and did not wish to burn down the flat in an ill advised attempt at cooking, the best thing to do would be to have a sandwich. The sandwich I created that night was amazing, it was a definate taste sensation. Not only did it taste great but it did not make my stomach churn after eating it, which is always a risk when eating when drunk. The best thing is that I did not wake up with a hangover! I cannot be sure that this is a good preventative for a hangover, but I do think that it helped. Read on to find out how to create this masterpiece.

What You Need To Make A Bacon And Tuna Sandwich
Making a bacon and tuna sandwich is really easy (it is so easy that I managed to make it while drunk, although I would not advise this while under the influence. Drunken cooking can be very dangerous so please do not do it). The ingredients for a bacon and tuna sandwich are extremely easy to get hold of as well, in fact you probably have most, if not all, of them in your house as you are reading this.
Ingredients
1 Pack (approx 8 slices) Smoked Back Bacon, cooked and chilled
1 Tin of Tuna
3 tbsp Mayonnaise
1 Spring Onion, finely chopped
Salt & Pepper
4 Slices of Bread
Butter/Margarine, for spreading
When I made this sandwich I used 2 slices of white bread but you could substitute the white bread with your bread of choice, such as wholegrain or gluten free. To be honest this mix tends to work well with most types of bread including a french stick and tortillia wraps.

How To Make A Tuna And Bacon Sandwich
Tuna And Bacon Sandwich Method
Making the Tuna And Bacon Sandwich is really easy. It is even easier if you have the ingredients ready made. As a student I always made sure there were a range of sandwich fillings pre-made and readily available so that I could grab a quick bite whilst studying, or so that I could eat something between lectures.
Method for Tuna Mix
1) Drain the tuna and place it in a bowl
2) Mix into the tuna the spring onion and the mayonnaise
3) Add a pinch of salt and pepper to the mix
Method for Sandwich
1) Butter the bread
2) Spread the tuna mix onto two of the slices of bread
3) Lay four slices of bacon onto the slices on top of the tuna mix (The tuna mix helps to hold the sandwich together)
4) Close the sandwich with the two empty slices of bread
5) Eat the sandwiches
I tend to use cold bacon for this recipe because when I use hot bacon the mayonnaise has a tendancy to become a little runny and it makes the sandwich messy and soggy, this does not happen with cold bacon.

- Tuna and bacon doesn't sound strange to me at all. But that's because everything tastes better with bacon. Fun lens. Blessed.
