Chocolate Covered Bacon Recipe
- Serves: 12
- Prep Time: 20 mins.
- Total Time: 40 mins

Ingredients
- 12 thick-sliced bacon strips (about 1 pound)
- 12 wooden skewers (12 inches)
- 6 ounces white candy coating
- chopped
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 tablespoon shortening
- Optional toppings: chopped dried apple chips
- apricots and crystallized ginger
- finely chopped pecans and pistachios
- toasted coconut
- kosher salt
- brown sugar
- cayenne pepper and coarsely ground black pepper
Instructions
* Thread each bacon strip onto a wooden skewer. Place on a rack in a large baking pan. Bake at 400° for 20-25 minutes or until crisp. Cool completely.
* In a microwave, melt candy coating; stir until smooth. Combine chocolate chips and shortening; melt in a microwave and stir until smooth.
* With pastry brushes, coat bacon on both sides with melted coatings. Top each strip as desired. Place on waxed paper-lined baking sheets. Refrigerate until firm. Store in the refrigerator.

"This is a German recipe for the holidays. It is very nice when you have had your fill with sweet, sugary cookies to have a hearty, bacon cookie! Or two :-)"

Ingredients
- 4 slices bacon
- cut into small pieces
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine
- chilled
- 1 egg
- 1 pinch salt
- 3 tablespoons heavy cream
- 1 dash ground black pepper
- 1 egg yolk
- beaten
Instructions
1. Fry bacon pieces in a large skillet over medium heat until crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon to paper towels, and cool completely.
2. Into a large mixing bowl, place the flour, butter or margarine, egg, salt, and heavy cream. Using the mixer's hook attachment, mix the contents of the bowl together until combined; then transfer the dough to the counter, and quickly mix with your hands. Knead in cooled bacon pieces and pepper.
3. Roll up the dough into a log, to a diameter of about 1 1/2 inches. Wrap in aluminum foil, and refrigerate for 2 hours, until firm.
4. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Remove foil, cut dough roll into slices, and place slices on greased baking sheet. Brush each slice with beaten egg yolk.
5. Bake in a preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes, until brown. Remove to a wire rack until cooled completely.

- It may sound weird, but have you ever tasted bacon cupcakes? They're actually regular cupcakes with bacon crumbs on top of the icing. I've never tried them but some say they are fabulous! Great lens!

- while make bacon and pancakes. I dropped a couple slices of bacon in the pancake mix, I decided to deep fry it up. I deep fried the whole pound. The kids loved it and my picky son was asking for more.
