Bad Taste Bears Collection

One night around 17yrs ago in (1994) a graphic designer/artist from Coventry was designing and drawing cute little bears to be printed on pyjamas for little girls.

After drawing these cute little bears all through the night he was all
"Cuted Out"
and needed to get the cuteness out of his system by drawing something else.
What he drew was, his first Bad Taste Bear,,
The Chainsaw Bear like the picture to the right.

This artist really enjoyed drawing this type of bear so he decided to draw up a list of many different types of funny bears in interesting situations.

5yrs later, these exact illustrations and sketches were discovered by a company called,
"Piranha Studios"
that was a leading Character Giftware company.
Piranha Studios are the one who decided to translate these cool pictures into collectable figureines.

At this time there were only 6 figures to the collection, being sold in a gadget shop that were hand-casted and painted by home workers in Newcastle Upon Tyne.

The collection of Bad Taste Bears became so popular within the first year of release that they increased the collection too 12 bears and after a few short months these funny little bears were in such huge demand that the production had to be moved to a factory with a club being created for the serious collector.

The Man behind bad taste bears sparked a huge interest around the globe, there are now hundreds of bears to collect and tens of thousands collectors world wide. This mans name is Peter Underhill (From Coventry)
