What a fantastic compilation of terrible examples. You might want to take a look at Avril Levine, if you decide to expand.

"I'm proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm free" by Lee Greenwood.
An American is a "who" or a "what", but not a "where".

Forgot how many ridiculous lyrics were out there.
Had a few good chuckles ;-)

    Okay....Bedrock by Lil Wayne.
Call me Mr. Flintstone, I can make your bedrock.

I'm having to learn Pendulum's 'The Tempest' atm ... omg what god-awful lyrics!!
"We're protecting and burning like a cyst"
How do people get this s%*t released??
  • Pongacat Oct 6, 2009 @ 10:33 am | delete
The old song " I'm Just Wild About Harry" includes the dreadful lines 'He's sweet just like chocolate candy, and honeysuckle from the bee'. The metre might be right, but honeysuckles are plants. Unlike honey, they don't come from the bee.And if they did, where else would they come from anyway?

And while I'm on to it, there's an irksome line in "Cabaret" too.
'The day she died the neighbours came to snicker...
..that's what you get from too much pills and liquor'
It should of course be too many pills and too much liquor.
But never let correct grammar get in the way of a neat rhyming pattern!

Believe it or not I still like "you're having my baby" Oh well

very funny and fun lens, excellent 5*

It should be noted that Paul Anka's song "Having My Baby" has, very briefly, served one useful social purpose. It occurred during a screening of the 1986 remake of "The Fly" staring Jeff Goldblum. According to David Barry, during a pivotal scene somebody in the audience sang out "Having my maggot..."

Great lens! What fun looking at these awful lyrics!

Oh - My favorite bad lyrics would be Bell Biv DeVoe - Do Me! Featuring these lyrical atrocities:

    Girl, let your hair down
Take off your clothes and leave on your shoes
Would you mind if I looked at you for a moment
    Before I make sweet love
    Backstage, under age, adolescent
How ya doin', "Fine," she replied
I sighed, "I like to do the wild thing"
    - and -
The time was 6 o'clock on the Swatch watch
No time to chill, got a date, can't be late
Hey, the girl is gonna do me

if you read the rest of the Still Fighting It Lyrics, you will find that it is actually a good song.
  • Reggie_Marigold Oct 11, 2007 @ 5:13 pm | delete
Uh-oh...I like some of these. LOL and I like "Everyone was Kung Fu Fighting" Oh dear, oh dear. ;) What a FUN lens! I haven't laughed so hard and now my tummy hurts.

This is THE BEST! I've spent hours watching Mishead Lyrics videos on YouTube.
Thanks for such a terrific lens!!

P.S. My security word is "Sneezeworm". That would make for some really terrible song lyrics!
  • just_Dawn Oct 4, 2007 @ 10:39 am | delete
OMG this is great! You've definitely got some real losers here! But your lens is a winner!
  • docwoman Sep 29, 2007 @ 9:44 pm | delete
What a great lens! It was great revisiting those lyrics and laughing again. Remember "Everyone was Kung Fu Fighing"? And Michael Jackson's "Bad". The song name said it all, lol!

I thought I was the only one who hated 'MacArthur Park' (the cake thing?) or cringed at that Paul Anka baby tune. Great idea for a lens... thanks for the laughs!
  • ShannonC Sep 15, 2007 @ 10:32 pm | delete
LOL...thanks for the hearty laugh! :-)
  • kellfinder Sep 14, 2007 @ 7:46 pm | delete
Cool lens! How about the song "Blinded by the light" by Manfred Man. Talk about misunderstood lyrics because no one thinks they are saying "deuce" by something else intstead. Here is the link to the lyrics http://www.lyriczz.com/lyriczz.php?songid=14560

Sorry, I can't stop - this lens is so much fun!
Mis-heard lyrics? How about "mis-written" lyrics? To wit:
In "Space Cowboy" the (thank God) inimitable Steve Miller sings of "the Pompetess of Love." He was misquoting from someone else.

Two guys are sentenced to be executed. On the appointed day, they are led out to the scaffold.
"Any last wishes?" asks the executioner.
"Yes" says the first guy "Could you please play Steve Miller's "Big Ole Jet Airliner", so I can hear it one last time before I die?"
    "Sure thing" says the execut

How could you leave out Steve Miller? ALL of his song lyrics suck. He doesn't have the single worst song ever, but he is the most prolific of the awful songwriters.
Also, there has to be a cutoff date. Maybe around 1980? There are just too many awful songs (Hanson is just the tip of the Boy-Groups)

I love this lens, too funny! Great work!
  • GypsyPirate Sep 10, 2007 @ 11:31 am | delete
LOL! I love this! I think you need to include just one more "mis-heard" lyric though: "Bad moon on the rise..." is heard as "Bathroom on the right..."
  • KaysBestCards Aug 31, 2007 @ 6:42 pm | delete
Cute lens. Gave me a chuckle. Do you remember these bad lyrics
    "Across your dreams
    With nets of wonder
I chase the bright elusive butterfly of love"
  • KimberlyDawnWells Aug 24, 2007 @ 10:54 am | delete
LOL Nice job! This is great.
