- What a fantastic compilation of terrible examples. You might want to take a look at Avril Levine, if you decide to expand.

- "I'm proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm free" by Lee Greenwood.
An American is a "who" or a "what", but not a "where".

- The old song " I'm Just Wild About Harry" includes the dreadful lines 'He's sweet just like chocolate candy, and honeysuckle from the bee'. The metre might be right, but honeysuckles are plants. Unlike honey, they don't come from the bee.And if they did, where else would they come from anyway?
And while I'm on to it, there's an irksome line in "Cabaret" too.
'The day she died the neighbours came to snicker...
..that's what you get from too much pills and liquor'
It should of course be too many pills and too much liquor.
But never let correct grammar get in the way of a neat rhyming pattern!

- It should be noted that Paul Anka's song "Having My Baby" has, very briefly, served one useful social purpose. It occurred during a screening of the 1986 remake of "The Fly" staring Jeff Goldblum. According to David Barry, during a pivotal scene somebody in the audience sang out "Having my maggot..."

- Oh - My favorite bad lyrics would be Bell Biv DeVoe - Do Me! Featuring these lyrical atrocities:
Girl, let your hair down
Take off your clothes and leave on your shoes
Would you mind if I looked at you for a moment
Before I make sweet love
Backstage, under age, adolescent
How ya doin', "Fine," she replied
I sighed, "I like to do the wild thing"
- and -
The time was 6 o'clock on the Swatch watch
No time to chill, got a date, can't be late
Hey, the girl is gonna do me

Thanks for such a terrific lens!!
P.S. My security word is "Sneezeworm". That would make for some really terrible song lyrics!

- Cool lens! How about the song "Blinded by the light" by Manfred Man. Talk about misunderstood lyrics because no one thinks they are saying "deuce" by something else intstead. Here is the link to the lyrics http://www.lyriczz.com/lyriczz.php?songid=14560

- Sorry, I can't stop - this lens is so much fun!
Mis-heard lyrics? How about "mis-written" lyrics? To wit:
In "Space Cowboy" the (thank God) inimitable Steve Miller sings of "the Pompetess of Love." He was misquoting from someone else.

- Two guys are sentenced to be executed. On the appointed day, they are led out to the scaffold.
"Any last wishes?" asks the executioner.
"Yes" says the first guy "Could you please play Steve Miller's "Big Ole Jet Airliner", so I can hear it one last time before I die?"
"Sure thing" says the execut

- How could you leave out Steve Miller? ALL of his song lyrics suck. He doesn't have the single worst song ever, but he is the most prolific of the awful songwriters.
Also, there has to be a cutoff date. Maybe around 1980? There are just too many awful songs (Hanson is just the tip of the Boy-Groups)
