Bad Plastic Surgery

When people talk about bad plastic surgery then they usually have seen a picture of a celebrity who has had so many cosmetic surgery procedures that he or she looks totally unnatural already.

Sometimes things just go wrong. Every cosmetic surgery has risks. There can be known and unknown side effects and complications. It's a statistical fact that these things happen. Even a top surgeon can't produce top results all time. All you can do is to reduce the risks as much as possible in advance of the surgery.

You can also talk about bad plastic surgery when the plastic surgeon is overdoing things, often because of the patient who urges the surgeon to do something unusual. That could be a surgery that is known to very risky or out of the scope of standard, proven procedures. One example are extremely large breast implants or face lifts on 80 year old grandmas who want to look like 20.

If people can easily see that someone had a cosmetic surgery then it is bad plastic surgery, no matter how well the surgery was done from a medical point of view. If the surgery looks unnatural then it was a failure. The goal of an aesthetic improvement of the look was missed.

There is a reason why cosmetic surgery costs that much. An excellent surgeon is also like an artist. He must know what results a cut here and an incision there has on the overall appearance of the patient. Making a perfect cut is not enough. He must have experience from many previous surgeries in order to know what looks good and what not.

Unfortunately good plastic surgeons can't be found around the next corner. Bad  surgery happens every day and we have seen many pictures of failed surgeries in the media. Either there was just a young surgeon at work who is lacking the required knowledge or maybe there have been complications. Fact is, your life can be pretty much ruined if you are victim of the circumstances.

Let's talk about complications. There are various things that can happen like, nerve damage, paralysis or blood clots for example. This can happen in every surgery but a nerve damage during a face lift could have dramatic consequences.

Another possible complication is an infection. An infection can evolve to a serious threat and ruin the results of a good surgery. Blood loss is one cause of an infection. If a surgery, for example a liposuction, leads to high blood loss then the risks of an infection increase as well.

Skin problem are another major problem. Every surgery leaves scars behind but there could be more if you have bad luck. There can be a decrease of sensation, asymmetry or numbness. The older the skin the higher the risks for skin problems that stay.

Many of the side effects go away from alone but some are just irreversible. The best way to avoid bad plastic surgery results is to reduce the risk factors. Choose an experienced, specialized surgeon, don't smoke and make sure you have a good general health and skin condition before the surgery is performed.
