Between high mountains and green meadows
You like to hike or climb? You are interested in baroque churches and monasteries? You like to sit in a beergarden, eating delicious food and drinking that refreshing beer they call "Weißbier"? You like to go through little villages with hundreds of flowers on the wooden balconies? You want to take a bath in a clear lake?
You can do all that in the region around Bad Tölz. Bad Tölz has been built on the banks of the river Isar and is famous for its wonderful main street, where you can sit outside without being disturbed by any cars.

Upper Bavaria
Between Munich and Innsbruck
If you drive from Munich in the direction of the Alps, you have to drive through Bad Tölz. It is on the direct way to Innsbruck, Austria. Now you might ask why I took Holzkirchen as a point on the map. Well, Google Map strictly resisted to Bad Tölz, for whatever reason, however accepted Holzkirchen. if you zoom out you will find Bad Tölz on the map and maybe some other places mentioned in this lens as well.

The Mainstreet of Bad Tölz
Have a drink in the famous Marktstraße!

When you walk up from the banks of the Isar through the main street of Bad Tölz you pass many typical bavarian restaurants. As soon as the weather will allow it chairs and tables are put outside. You can have a delicious typical Bavarian dish, or just a cup of coffee, enjoying the southern atmosphere.

Upper Bavaria is the part of Bavaria which offers deep blue lakes and high mountains. In late spring you can take a bath in a lake in the late morning and go skiing in the afternoon (or the other way round). Looking at this mousepad fills me with calm. Maybe it has the same effect on you?
A Walk through Bad Tölz
This video is made by a German, so there are explanatory blurbs in German, but you don't need to understand them in order to get an impression of the town. Enjoy!
Bavarian Monastery - Benediktbeuern

The region around Bad Tölz is full of impressive monasteries. One of them is Benediktbeuern, about 20 minutes to drive from Bad Tölz. Today it is used as a college. The church and the yard of the cloister can be visited. And of course there's a restaurant attached to the monastery, where you can sit inside and outside and enjoy Bavarian specialities.

- I have a funny story that I must tell you and Dee about eating a typical Bavarian meal in Bad Tölz. Great place and a great lens that I have lensrolled to my "What's happening in Munich". I guess I should add a note saying that on Friday afternoon everyone heads to Bad Tölz !
