You knew the job was dangerous when you took it...
Here I am with one of my knitting machines. This was taken for a newspaper article before my first trip to Uganda in 2004. Notice that there is NO YARN on the machine at all!
So, to begin:
I started life as the youngest of five girls growing up in So Cal, and met the love of my life at 17. Left home at 18 to go to college in a distant state far, far away (Iowa), and the adventure just hasn't stopped.
Now, I am the mother of five highly individualized genetic mutations of my husband and myself, and I'm a home schooler to boot. I've always lived my life flying the 'fickle finger of fate' at conformity, and I have a few regrets, but none that hold me back. My vices are coffee, chocolate and shopping, but I'm sure my friends, husband and kids could name off a few more if you asked them!
I have a knack for finding a niche, creating something to meet that need and moving on to the next big thing. So far I have created rest home ministries, children's choir groups, kntting clubs, and I'm still looking around for something to do. Some people may attribute this to restlessness, but I find that so many things REALLY interest me, I have to find out more about them and spread the word. I'm always curious about people, how things work, why things are the way they are; I'm always asking questions. I like that about myself. It keeps me young and able to laugh at myself when I start to take stuff too seriously.
So, this is a page dedicated to my random thoughts and whims, my causes and latest adventures. This now includes my world travels (such as they are), my latest modeling/fashion do's, and general silliness.
I have a business page on MySpace, too, if you have need of my services:

Mr Moe
The dog with a whole lot o' love...
Moe is a border collie who came into our lives nine years ago from a family at our church. He used to live with his brother, Curlie (note the 3 Stooges theme here- we don't know what happened to Larry!). Moe was trying to play Alpha dog, and when he bit through Curlie's ear, he was out, so we took him in. I had a border collie growing up- smartest and coolest dog I ever owned- so I was thrilled. He had a lot of weird behaviors, and I saw evidence in the way he acted that he'd been abused. He didn't bark for a week after he arrived, and he was scared to death of men, even my husband, dog's best friend.
I was a month away from giving birth to our youngest daughter, and our house was in the middle of a massive remodel due to a broken water pipe. From the start Moe was very protective of me and he LOVED the kids right away. Since he had no sheep to herd, he ran my kids ragged. All this was great, except he suffered tremendous separation anxiety (chewed up several door jambs trying to get in or out of wherever he thought we were), and used to head butt the back fence so often, my neighbors thought he might knock himself out.
We took him to obedience school, which helped some, but it wasn't until he took it upon himself to play catcher during one of the kids impromptu baseball games, that he settled down. Moe jumped, the bat connected with a terrifiying thud, and he went and sat under a tree in shock. I took him to the vet who told me things were fine, Moe mellowed out and all the behaviors disappeared.
Life goes on and Moe just celebrated his 12th birthday in March. Despite some mild health problems, including a mild stroke, he is doing well and we really enjoy his company.
I think he feels the same way about us!

- Do you respect people's wishes when they ask to opt out of gifts, & ask you to give to their favorite charity instead? Even if it's family?
