The tragic example of rap singer Kanye West's mother proves you need to dig very deep when you do your due dilgence.

West's mother died shortly after having what was believed to have been two procedures at the same time.

After her death it was revealed her surgeon had has several malpractice suits filed against him. Could that happen to you?

Did you know that some patients experience abnormal heart rhythms, airway obstruction, blood clots, or even brain damage during cosmetic surgery?

Also heart attack, nerve damage, stroke, temporary paralysis and even death can sometimes happen.

Although these risks are rare, they are possible. Make sure your surgeon knows your complete medical history.

Some patients are electing to have their plastic surgery procedures done in other countries.
Will this be a bad plastic surgery decision?

The main reason to have your procedure done outside the U.S. is to save money. But will you actually save when you add in travel, hotel, recovery, meals, etc.?

You will not be near your family, friends or primary care physician. What if a problem arises? What then?

You will be leaving strict laws behind in the U.S. which protect you as a patient. Other countries have similar laws but not all foreign countries do. Buyer beware.

There may not be a quick fix for what you want changed.

Is your doctor being totally honest with you about that? Will your doctor be willing to admit it he can not perform the procedure on you the way you want it done?

Are you problems more emotional than cosmetic? If you have deep inferiority feelings about yourself and the way others perceive you, cosmetic surgery probably will not help you.

Your main goal as a patient is to improve yourself. A rhinoplasty, liposuction, or breast augmentation are good if you have the understanding they are mostly physical tweaking of the way you look and feel about yourself. They should not be life and death issues.
