Baguazhang (sometimes called Pa kua) is an internal martial art, somewhat related to Tai Chi (taiji). Its most distinguishing characteristic is the use of circle-walking by practitioners.

Line 1: Qian gua
- kai - the opening palm
- peng - the upholding palm
- dun - the pulling-down palm
- tan - the testing palm
- li - the stand-erect palm
- tiao - the carrying palm
- gai - the covering palm
- chan - the entwining palm
Line 2: Kan gua
- chui - the intercepting ribs palm
- cang - the flower hidden beneath the leaf
- kan - inside chopping
- xiao - outside chopping
- er - two sages preach the way
- hu - ferocious tiger pounces on shoulder
- duo - phoenix robs the nest
- huan - continuous advancing and retreating
